Long Profile Coating that Resists Common Chemicals

Material Use:

KEMKO 234 FC Coat is a two-component, solvent-free epoxy coating used for chemical-resistant coatings and surfacing applications requiring chemical, abrasion, and slip resistance. It is suitable for both pedestrian and vehicular traffic surfaces.

System Components:

·      Part A: Liquid epoxy resin

·      Part B: Epoxy hardener

·      Mixing ratio: 2:1 by volume (100:36 by weight)

·      May include dry aggregate (#20x40 or #30x50 mesh) for textured surfaces

Applications:

Ideal for concrete, masonry, steel, wood, and FRP surfaces in industrial and commercial environments. Complies with FDA 21 CFR 175.300 for food contact surfaces (dry bulk and aqueous foods) when fully cured. Used in environments where exposure to chemicals, automotive fluids, and wear is common.

Application Details:

·      Primers: Not required, but surface preparation per ASTM D4259 or ACI 503R is essential.

·      Installation Temp Range: Minimum substrate temperature of 50°F. Apply after substrate reaches peak daily temperature.

·      Thickness:

o   Coating: Two coats minimum at 10 mils per coat

o   Surfacing: Single or multiple coats at 20–30 mils per coat

·      Coverage:

o   Coating: 100–133 sq ft/gallon (two coats)

o   Surfacing: 50–80 sq ft/gallon

·      Curing Times at 73°F:

o   Pot life: 120 minutes (100g mass)

o   Tack-free time: 4.5 hours

o   Recoat window: 4–36 hours

·      Surface Preparation: CSP2-3 profile recommended for concrete; SSPC SP 5 for steel.

·      Application Methods: Brush, roller, squeegee, or two-component spray.

·      Aggregate Broadcast: Within 15 minutes of application; use dry aggregate only. Broadcast rate: 0.75–1.5 lb/sq ft.

Special Notes:

·      UV Resistance: Not UV stable; surface may chalk if exposed to sunlight.

·      VOC Content: 100% solids, no VOCs.

·      Freeze-Thaw Resistance: Excellent.

·      Storage: Minimum shelf life of three years in sealed containers stored at 60–90°F.

·      Limitations: Avoid application on or below grade without a vapor barrier. Not recommended for galvanized steel or aluminum without special prep. Do not thin material.
