Description

Chemical/Radiation Resistant Epoxy Paste Adhesive for Bonding

Material Use:

This is a two-component, solvent-free epoxy adhesive formulated for structural bonding in environments requiring chemical and radiation resistance. It is ideal for bonding precast concrete segments to concrete or steel, bonding various rigid construction materials, and filling spalls, gaps, and cracks in concrete, masonry, or stone. It is applicable on horizontal, vertical, and overhead surfaces.

System Components:

KEMKO 513 consists of Part A (epoxy resin) and Part B (hardener), mixed at a 2:1 ratio by volume. It can be blended with dried silica sand (up to one volume) to reduce curing heat and allow for thicker application layers without compromising non-sag properties. No additional solvents should be added.

Applications:

·      Structural bonding of concrete and steel segments

·      Filling of surface voids and cracks in concrete, masonry, and stone

·      Use on both dry and damp surfaces

·      Suitable for both flat and overhead orientations

Application Details:

·      Substrate Temperature Requirements: Minimum of 60°F for installation, 50°F for curing

·      Working Time / Pot Life: 4 hours (½" bead open time); 50 minutes gel time for 225 g mix

·      Cure Times: Develops compressive strength of 1500 psi at 25 hrs, 8000 psi after 14 days at 73°F

·      Max Thickness (Non-sag): 1/4 inch

·      Installation Method: Applied with a trowel, pump, or caulking gun; both surfaces should be coated when bonding solids

·      Mixing: Use Jiffy mixer blade at 350–750 RPM for 2–3 minutes; aggregate blending requires an additional 2–3 minutes

·      Coverage: Not explicitly specified, but dependent on application thickness and surface conditions

·      Cleaning: Use acetone or detergent before curing; cured material requires epoxy stripper

·      Packaging: Available in 3 and 15-gallon units

Special Notes:

·      KEMKO 513 is part of the KIP System and is available only through licensed applicators.

·      It is resistant to a wide range of chemicals including salts, fuels, mild acids and bases, and demonstrates radiation resistance. Limited resistance to hydrocarbon solvents and high-temperature exposure should be noted.

·      Not UV stable or resistant – use in protected environments is advised.

·      The product should not be used where continuous high shear stress at temperatures exceeding 95°F (20°F below HDT) is expected.

·      Store between 50°F and 90°F away from sunlight for a minimum shelf life of one year.
