Description

LASTOBOND STICK VP is a roof-boarding membrane permeable to water vapour made with a trilaminar polypropylene complex surface.

UNITS PER SKID: 20

Material Use:

LASTOBOND STICK VP is a vapour-permeable, self-adhesive rain barrier membrane designed for use as a roof underlayment beneath metal coverings in insulated sloped roof systems. It also functions effectively as a roof-boarding membrane over wooden decking, providing secondary weather protection and contributing to the overall durability of the roofing system.

System Components:

This membrane is composed of a trilaminar polypropylene complex facer on the surface and a self-adhesive underside protected by a two-part silicone release film. It is designed to be used as part of a roofing system, typically installed directly over substrates such as polyisocyanurate insulation panels, plywood, or OSB. While it is not part of a multi-layer coating system, it serves as a critical component in roof assemblies, particularly under metal roofing.

Applications:

LASTOBOND STICK VP is primarily used in sloped metal roof assemblies as a vapour-permeable underlayment. It is suitable for use over polyisocyanurate insulation, plywood, and OSB substrates. It is ideal for both residential and commercial roofing applications where a breathable, self-adhesive membrane is required beneath metal coverings.

Application Details:

The membrane is applied by removing the silicone release film and adhering it directly to the prepared substrate. Side laps must be a minimum of 100 mm (4 in), and end laps must be at least 150 mm (6 in). After placement, the membrane must be pressed firmly using a membrane roller to ensure full adhesion. The application temperature range is from -7 °C to 40 °C (19 °F to 104 °F), and the membrane can withstand service temperatures from -40 °C to 130 °C (-40 °F to 266 °F). The membrane has a nominal thickness of 0.6 mm (24 mils) and is supplied in rolls measuring 50 m x 1.5 m (164 ft x 59 in).

Special Notes:

LASTOBOND STICK VP is not intended for use as a temporary waterproofing membrane. Roofing materials should be installed as soon as possible after membrane application. However, if necessary, the membrane can be left exposed to UV for up to 180 days without degradation. The product exhibits excellent adhesion to plywood, with adhesion values increasing significantly at warmer temperatures (22 lbf/ft at 4.5 °C and 44 lbf/ft at 24 °C). It also passes nail sealability and low-temperature flexibility tests, ensuring performance in a wide range of environmental conditions. The membrane is vapour permeable, with a water vapour permeance of 11 to 17 perms depending on the test method used (ASTM E96 Procedure A or B). Rolls must be stored upright with the selvedge side up and protected from UV exposure if stored outdoors.
