Description
MAMMOUTH NEO ONE is a single-ply membrane composed of biobased TPU (thermoplastic polyurethane) polymer-modified bitumen and a composite reinforcement.
UNITS PER SKID: 20
Material Use:
MAMMOUTH NEO ONE is a high-performance, single-ply waterproofing membrane designed for roofing applications. It is composed of a biobased thermoplastic polyurethane (TPU) polymer-modified bitumen and reinforced with a composite scrim. This membrane is engineered for superior UV resistance, flexibility in cold temperatures, and long-term durability, making it ideal for exposed roofing systems.
System Components:
MAMMOUTH NEO ONE is used as a standalone waterproofing membrane but must be installed in conjunction with a compatible adhesive. The membrane is applied over a previously spread adhesive using a notched squeegee. End laps and side laps require additional treatment: the first 100–125 mm (4–5 in) of end laps must be coated with adhesive using a notched trowel, and the final 25–50 mm (1–2 in) must be hot-air welded. All side laps must also be hot-air welded to ensure watertight integrity. The use of an automatic hot-air welder is recommended for improved speed and consistency.
Applications:
This membrane is specifically designed for roofing applications where a durable, UV-resistant, and flexible waterproofing layer is required. It is suitable for both new construction and re-roofing projects, particularly in environments with high UV exposure or where cold flexibility is critical.
Application Details:
- Installation Method: Unrolled onto adhesive with notched squeegee; pressure applied with membrane roller.
- Lap Treatment: End laps require adhesive and hot-air welding; side laps require hot-air welding.
- Membrane Thickness: 3.9 mm (153 mils)
- Selvedge Width: 100 mm (4 in)
- Selvedge Thickness: 3.2 mm (126 mils)
- Roll Dimensions: 10 m x 1 m (32.8 ft x 3.3 ft)
- Roll Weight: 50.5 kg (111.3 lb)
- Surface Finish: Grey sand (top and bottom)
Special Notes:
- UV Resistance: The TPU-modified bitumen composition provides inherent UV stability, eliminating the need for additional UV protection layers.
- Temperature Tolerance: Maintains flexibility down to -15 °C (5 °F), and after UV weathering down to -12 °C (10 °F).
- Heat Resistance: Compound stability up to 95 °C (203 °F).
- Puncture Resistance: Passes ASTM D5602 puncture resistance test.
- Storage: Rolls must be stored upright with the selvedge side on top. Do not stack. If stored outdoors, cover with an opaque protective cover after removing delivery packaging.
- Environmental Conditions for Installation: While specific humidity and temperature limits during installation are not detailed in the TDS, standard practice for bitumen-based membranes suggests avoiding installation during heavy rain, snow, or when ambient temperatures are below 5 °C (41 °F) unless otherwise approved by the manufacturer.
System Compatibility:
MAMMOUTH NEO ONE is designed to be used with SOPREMA-approved adhesives and is compatible with hot-air welding equipment for seam sealing. It is not a liquid-applied membrane and therefore does not have a pot life or wet mil thickness specification. It is a sheet-applied system and does not require a base coat or top coat, as it functions as a complete waterproofing layer on its own.
This material is ideal for sustainable roofing systems due to its biobased content and long-term performance characteristics.
