Description
Opti-Bond™ Multi-Surface Coating is can be directly applied over a variety of surfaces in a single coat to provide uniform color and improved light reflectance. Contains Portland cement.
Material Name:
Opti-Bond™ Multi-Surface Coating (B50W00100 – White)
Material Use:
Opti-Bond™ is a high-performance, one-coat, rust-inhibitive alkyd finish designed for both interior and exterior applications. It is specifically formulated for use on ceilings and overhead expanses, providing a flat, uniform finish with enhanced light reflectance. The product is corrosion-resistant and contains Portland Cement, making it suitable for a wide range of substrates including steel, concrete, masonry, galvanized metal, aluminum, and previously painted surfaces.
System Components:
Opti-Bond™ can be used as a standalone coating or as part of a system depending on the substrate:
- For steel, aluminum, and galvanized surfaces: Apply 2 coats of Opti-Bond™ directly.
- For concrete block: Use 1 coat of Pro Industrial Heavy Duty Block Filler or Kem Cati-Coat Epoxy Filler-Sealer followed by 1–2 coats of Opti-Bond™.
- For concrete/masonry and previously painted surfaces: Apply 1–2 coats of Opti-Bond™ directly.
Applications:
This coating is ideal for:
- Overhead decking
- Joists
- Concrete ceilings
- Beams
- Conduit
It is also suitable for use in USDA-inspected facilities, making it appropriate for industrial, commercial, and institutional environments.
Application Details:
- Application Methods: Airless spray (2800 psi, 0.019–0.021 tip, 60 mesh filter), brush (natural bristle), or roller (3/8" woven with solvent-resistant core).
- Recommended Wet Film Thickness: 3.5–6.0 mils
- Recommended Dry Film Thickness: 2.0–3.4 mils
- Coverage: 264–449 sq. ft. per gallon (theoretical coverage at 1 mil dry = 898 sq. ft./gal)
- Pot Life: Not applicable (single-component alkyd)
- Dry Time @ 77°F, 50% RH, 4.0 mils wet:
- To touch: 1 hour
- To handle: 2 hours
- To recoat: 12 hours
- Full cure: 7 days
- Temperature Range for Application: Minimum 40°F (4.4°C), Maximum 120°F (49°C); must be at least 5°F above dew point
- Maximum Relative Humidity: 85%
- Do not tint this product.
Special Notes:
- This product is not UV-stable and is best suited for areas not exposed to direct sunlight for extended periods.
- Not compliant with SCAQMD, CARB, or LEED v4 VOC requirements; VOC content is 337 g/L (2.81 lbs/gal).
- Surface preparation is critical for performance. Steel should be cleaned to SSPC-SP6 for best results. Concrete must be cured for at least 30 days and cleaned per SSPC-SP13/ICRI CSP 1–3.
- For concrete block, a filler such as Pro Industrial Heavy Duty Block Filler or Kem Cati-Coat Epoxy Filler-Sealer is required before applying Opti-Bond™.
- Do not reduce or thin the product. Mix thoroughly before use.
- Clean tools and equipment with compliant cleanup solvent immediately after use.
- Rags and waste soaked with this product may spontaneously combust; dispose of properly in a sealed, water-filled metal container.
System Compatibility:
Opti-Bond™ is compatible with:
- Pro Industrial Heavy Duty Block Filler
- Kem Cati-Coat Epoxy Filler-Sealer
These primers/fillers are used to prepare porous or rough substrates like concrete block before applying Opti-Bond™ as the finish coat. No additional topcoat is required, as Opti-Bond™ serves as the final finish in the system.
