Description
PC-220SF is a single-component, high-solids, low-odor, solvent-free, environmentally safe, liquid-applied, moisture-cured aromatic polyurethane elastomeric weatherproofing base membrane.
Material Use:
PC-220SF is a Solvent-Free, Elastomeric, Aromatic Polyurethane Base Membrane. It is used as a waterproofing base membrane in construction applications requiring a seamless, elastomeric coating. It is ideally suited for concrete, masonry, metal, plywood, and wood surfaces, especially where solvent-free, low-odor solutions are required. The material is designed for use in waterproofing systems and acts as the base coat in a multi-layer coating structure.
System Components:
PC-220SF is typically part of a multi-coat system. It is applied in two coats with an aggregate broadcast in the second coat to provide a slip-resistant finish. If more than 48 hours elapse between coats, the surface must be re-primed with Polyprime U. For accelerated curing, PC-50 can be added to PC-220SF. PC-220SF is not UV stable and should be used as a base coat beneath a suitable UV-resistant topcoat.
Applications:
Designed for horizontal and vertical surfaces in decks, podiums, balconies, and other exposed or traffic-bearing areas that require elastomeric waterproofing. Suitable substrates include concrete, plywood, wood, metal, and masonry, provided they are dry and clean.
Application Details:
The product is applied using a squeegee or notched trowel; a phenolic resin roller can be used with caution to avoid air entrapment. The recommended dry film thickness is 16 ± 2 mils per coat. Each coat should be applied at a rate of 1 gallon per 100 square feet, and broadcast of 16–20 mesh sand (at 20 lbs/100 sqft) into the wet coat is suggested for slip resistance. When using PC-50 accelerator, re-coating must occur within 12 hours of cure. If the re-coat window is missed, a solvent wipe followed by a re-prime with Polyprime U is required.
Special Notes:
· Pot Life: Not explicitly listed, but sensitive to heat and moisture—batch size must be controlled to prevent premature curing.
· Curing Time: 16 hours at 75°F (24°C) and 50% RH; with PC-50, curing time is reduced to 6–8 hours.
· Re-Coat Window: Within 48 hours (12 hours if accelerated).
· Full Cure Time: Dependent on temperature and humidity; not specified explicitly.
· Temperature Range for Application: Must be stored between 60–95°F (15–35°C); no specific install range, but general moisture and temperature sensitivity apply.
· UV Stability: Not UV stable – requires a UV-resistant topcoat.
· Thickness Limits: 16 ± 2 mils dry film per coat (approx. 406 ± 50 microns).
· Coverage: 1 gallon covers approximately 100 square feet (0.41 l/sqm).
· Shelf Life: 1 year in unopened containers stored indoors between 60–95°F (15–35°C).
· Limitations: Do not use on split slabs, buried membranes, sandwich slabs with insulation, or slabs over unvented metal pan. Not intended for use on magnesite or non-structural lightweight concrete without prior testing. Moisture-vapor transmission testing is required for on-grade slabs.
