Description
PC-235/235SC is a single-component, liquid-applied, moisture-cured aromatic polyurethane elastomeric waterproofing base membrane. Make sure to use the correct grade of product that complies with VOC regulations.
Material Use
PC-235 and PC-235SC are elastomeric, moisture-cured, aromatic polyurethane waterproofing base membranes. These are designed for use in seamless waterproofing systems over concrete, masonry, metal, and plywood surfaces.
System Components
These base membranes are typically used as the foundational layer in a multi-component waterproofing system. Recoating after 48 hours requires re-priming the surface with Polyprime U. While the TDS does not list specific topcoats, these base membranes are usually paired with UV-stable or UV-resistant topcoats (not included in this sheet) depending on system design.
Applications
· Concrete decks and slabs
· Masonry wall surfaces
· Plywood and wood substrates
· Metal decks and surfaces requiring waterproofing
Application Details
· Mixing: Mix mechanically at slow speed before application to ensure uniform color and consistency; avoid air entrapment.
· Application Method: Use spray, squeegee, or notched trowel. A phenolic core roller may be used with care to avoid air trapping.
· Aggregate Broadcasting: If a slip-resistant finish is needed, broadcast washed and dried rounded sand (16 or 20 mesh) into the wet coat until refusal, then remove excess after curing.
· Coverage Rate: 1 gallon per 100 square feet (0.41 L/m²).
· Dry Film Thickness:
o PC-235: 12 ± 2 mils (305 ± 50 microns)
o PC-235SC: 13 ± 2 mils (330 ± 50 microns)
Special Notes
· Pot Life: Not explicitly mentioned; material is single-component and moisture-cured.
· Curing Time: At 75°F (24°C) and 50% RH, allow 16 hours before recoating. Full cure varies depending on humidity and temperature.
· Recoating Window: Recoat within 48 hours; otherwise, re-prime with Polyprime U.
· Temperature & Humidity Limits: Ideal curing at 75°F (24°C), 50% RH. Avoid conditions that trap moisture or air bubbles.
· Viscosity: 5000 ± 2500 cps at 75°F (24°C)
· VOC Content:
o PC-235: 1.67 lb/gal (200 g/L)
o PC-235SC: 0.75 lb/gal (91 g/L)
· UV Stability: Not UV stable – a UV-stable topcoat is typically required for exposed conditions.
· Packaging: Available in 5-gallon pails and 55-gallon drums.
· Color: Grey or Tan (custom order for 250-gallon minimum).
