Description

PC-440SF is a single-component, high-solids, low-odor, solvent-free, environmentally safe, liquid-applied, moisture-cured aromatic polyurethane elastomeric waterproofing base membrane.

Material Use

PC-440SF is a single-component, moisture-cured, aromatic polyurethane elastomer designed as a waterproofing base membrane. It is suitable for environments requiring a seamless, solvent-free, low-odor application with high solids content. It is not UV stable and is typically used as part of a multi-layer waterproofing system.

System Components

PC-440SF acts as the base coat within a complete Polycoat waterproofing system. It should be overcoated within 48 hours for optimal adhesion, using compatible topcoats (not detailed in this TDS). When re-coating beyond 48 hours, the surface must be re-primed with Polyprime U. If accelerated curing is necessary, the PC-50 accelerator may be added at a rate of 1 quart per 5-gallon pail.

Applications

This membrane is recommended for application on concrete, masonry, metal, plywood, and wood substrates. It is intended for decks and similar horizontal surfaces but not suitable for split slabs, buried membranes, unvented metal pans, or non-structural lightweight concrete. It may be used on on-grade slabs if moisture transmission testing is conducted.

Application Details

Apply using a notched trowel or squeegee; a phenolic resin roller may be used with care to avoid air entrapment. A slip-resistant finish is achieved by broadcasting washed, dry, rounded sand (16 or 20 mesh, 6.5+ Mohs hardness) at a rate of 20 lbs/100 ft² into the wet second coat. Recoat within 48 hours; if not, surface prep with solvent wipe and re-prime with Polyprime U is required.

Special Notes

·       Pot Life / Working Time: Not specified, but must be used promptly once opened.

·       Cure Time: 16 hours at 75°F (24°C) and 50% RH; 6–8 hours if accelerated with PC-50.

·       Full Re-coat Window: Within 48 hours (12 hours if accelerated).

·       Environmental Limits: Application temperature should be between 60–95°F (15–35°C). High heat and humidity accelerate cure, while cold and dry conditions extend it.

·       Coverage: 1 gallon per 100 ft² per coat.

·       Thickness: Each coat yields a dry film of 16 ± 2 mils.

·       VOC Content: <0.08 lb/gal (10 g/L).

·       UV Resistance: This material is not UV stable and should be protected by an appropriate topcoat.

·       Cleanup: Use VOC-compliant solvents immediately after use.
