PC-Drain / PC-Drain HD

PC-Drain and PC-Drain HD are two-part prefabricated geocomposite drains consisting of a formed polystyrene core covered on one side with polypropylene filter fabric. The fabric allows water to pass into the drain core while restricting the movement of soil particles which might clog the core.

 PC-Drain and PC-Drain HD are prefabricated geocomposite drainage materials used to manage subsurface water flow in waterproofing and structural applications. They are designed to relieve hydrostatic pressure and direct water to designated drainage exits. PC-Drain is optimized for vertical installations (e.g., walls, underslabs), while PC-Drain HD is designed for horizontal applications (e.g., decks, planters).

 The system is composed of:

·       A formed polystyrene drainage core.

·       A bonded polypropylene filter fabric on one side to allow water ingress while preventing soil intrusion.

These materials are often used in conjunction with waterproofing membranes such as AQUASEAL 5000 Series and PC IM 129, forming a compatible system for waterproofing and drainage.

·       Elevated pool deck cavities

·       Plaza decks and split slabs

·       Horizontal and vertical waterproofing systems

·       Vertical Installations: Roll length is cut to match wall height. A 4" section of the core is removed to facilitate drainage connection. Fabric may be glued or tucked for securement.

·       Horizontal Installations: Installed fabric-side-up on a cleaned surface. Panels are joined using compatible adhesives, double-sided tape, or spray glue. Overlaps require core abutment and fabric overlap every 5 feet.

·       Material is secured using adhesives that are compatible with polyurethane waterproofing membranes.

·       Material Compatibility: Specifically mentioned as suitable for use with AQUASEAL 5000 and PC IM 129.

·       Thickness: 7/16 inch (1.11 cm) for both PC-Drain and PC-Drain HD.

·       Compressive Strength: 15,000 lbs/ft² for PC-Drain; 20,000 lbs/ft² for PC-Drain HD.

·       Flow Capacity: PC-Drain – 16 gpm/ft width; PC-Drain HD – 21 gpm/ft width.

·       Fabric Performance (ASTM D4632/D4833):

o   Grab tensile strength: PC-Drain – 110 lbs; PC-Drain HD – 370 x 250 lbs

o   Puncture strength: PC-Drain – 65 psi; PC-Drain HD – 120 lbs

o   UV Resistance (500 hrs): PC-Drain – 70%; PC-Drain HD – 90% strength retained

o   Flow rate through fabric: PC-Drain – 150 gal/min/ft²; PC-Drain HD – 60 gal/min/ft²

Limitations and Application Conditions:

·       Designed for subsurface or concealed environments; not UV-stable for exposed long-term use.

·       No temperature or humidity limitations are specified in this document; care should be taken to coordinate with the conditions required for associated waterproofing membranes.

·       No pot life, cure time, or liquid thickness information applies, as this is not a liquid-applied material.
