Poly-Caulk JF-85 is a two-component, 100% solids, aromatic polyurea joint filler designed for filling interior random cracks, control joints, or new construction joints on horizontal concrete surfaces. It is engineered for environments requiring moderate flexibility and superior adhesion in a wide temperature range.
System Components:
This is a self-contained system with a 1:1 mix ratio by volume, delivered either via a 600 ml dual-cartridge or a 10-gallon kit (5 gallons of Side-A and 5 gallons of Side-B). It does not require a separate primer and is applied using a plural component pump or 1:1 caulking gun.
Applications:
Ideal for indoor installations in environments such as airport terminals, big box and wholesale clubs, correctional facilities, food-processing plants, light-industrial facilities, and polished concrete floors. Not intended for exterior use or under non-breathing/resilient flooring.
Application Details:
· Substrate Requirements: Concrete must be cured for a minimum of 28 days. Joint sidewalls must be abraded and vacuum-cleaned to ensure adhesion.
· Installation Temperature: ≥70°F (21°C)
· Exposure Temperature Range: -40°F to 200°F (-40°C to 93.3°C)
· Gel Time: 60–90 seconds
· Tack-Free Time: 2–3 minutes at 77°F (25°C), 50% RH
· Open to Foot Traffic: 15–20 minutes
· Pot Life: Not applicable due to rapid reaction; mix only as applied
· Curing Time: Fully serviceable within minutes under standard conditions
· Thickness & Coverage: Coverage depends on joint dimensions. For instance, 1 gallon covers approx. 249 linear feet in 1/4” x 1/4” joints. Thickness is dictated by joint geometry rather than specified wet mils.
· Mixing: Machine-mixed via 1:1 plural component equipment or dual-cartridge with static mixer.
Special Notes:
· UV Resistance: As an aromatic polyurea, the material is not UV-stable and may discolor with exposure; however, physical performance is unaffected.
· Storage: Store between 60°F and 95°F (15°C to 35°C). Shelf life is 12 months in original, sealed packaging.
· Limitations: Do not use on exterior joints subject to movement from thermal cycling or under non-breathable flooring systems.
· Safety: Contains isocyanates and curatives; use appropriate PPE including respirators, gloves, eye protection, and protective clothing.
