Poly-Caulk PX15 SL

Poly-Caulk^® PX15 SL is an elastomeric, one-component, self-leveling, non-bubbling, premium-grade polyurethane sealant specifically developed to be used as a multi-purpose horizontal joint sealant. The product is a moisture cure sealant with excellent adhesive properties and resistance to aging and weathering.

 POLY-CAULK PX15 SL is a premium-grade, self-leveling, one-component polyurethane joint sealant specifically formulated for horizontal joint sealing. It is designed for use in concrete applications including sidewalks, balconies, pavements, terraces, warehouses, factories, plazas, and airport runways. It can also be used as a pitch pan sealant.

 This is a single-component product that does not require mixing. No standard primer is needed unless tests show it is necessary or if the sealant will be exposed to water immersion after cure. Bond breaker tape is required to prevent adhesion at the base of the joint.

 Suitable for sealing horizontal concrete joints, particularly in industrial, commercial, and civil structures. It is especially effective in environments where fuel resistance (including jet fuel), water exposure, and long-term elasticity are important. It is compatible with green or damp concrete (after 24 hours from form removal), making it ideal for fast-track projects.

·       Application Temperature Range: 41°F to 104°F (5°C to 40°C)

·       Service Temperature Range: -40°F to 180°F (-40°C to 82.2°C)

·       Conditioning Temperature Before Use: 65°F to 75°F (18.3°C to 23.9°C)

·       Movement Capability: ±25% (ASTM C719)

·       Shore A Hardness: 30 ± 5

·       Joint Design: Recommended joint depth is ¼” (6.35 mm) minimum and ½” (12.7 mm) maximum, with a 2:1 width-to-depth ratio.

·       Coverage:

o   For a triangular cross-section:

§  ¼” sides – 616 linear ft./gal.

§  ½” sides – 154 linear ft./gal.

§  ¾” sides – 68 linear ft./gal.

o   For rectangular joints, coverage varies (e.g., 3/8” width × 3/8” depth ≈ 205 linear ft./gal.)

·       VOC Content: 47 g/L

·       Paint Compatibility: Compatible with water-based paints; solvent-based paints should be tested for compatibility.

·       Cleanup: Use toluene or xylene before curing.

·       Not UV-rated for color stability, but it has excellent weather and aging resistance.

·       Do not apply if rain is expected before skin formation.

·       Allow one week of cure for water immersion exposure (maximum chlorine level: 5 ppm).

·       Not suitable for submerged use in ethanol.

·       Avoid contact with alcohol or solvent cleaners during curing.

·       Shelf life is one year in sealed cartridges stored at 40°F to 95°F (4°C to 35°C); six months for pails and drums.

·       Product conforms to ASTM C920-11, Federal TTS-00230C, BS 5212, and ISO 11600 F 25 HM. USDA compliant for meat and poultry handling areas.
