Description

The Poly-I-Gard® 125 Traffic Deck System is a liquid applied, moisture cured, polyurethane waterproofing system for everyday use. The system utilizes an epoxy primer, an aromatic polyurethane basecoat, one or two intermediate coats of aromatic polyurethane with aggregate, and an aliphatic polyurethane topcoat.

Material Use:

Poly-I-Gard 125 is a liquid-applied, moisture-cured polyurethane waterproofing system designed for use on traffic-bearing surfaces. It is intended for both pedestrian and light to heavy vehicular traffic and is suitable for areas such as parking structures, balconies (concrete or plywood), patios, sun decks, and walkways.

System Components:

 The complete system comprises:

·       Primer: Polyprime 2180SC or Polyprime EBF-LV

·       Basecoat: PC-220

·       Intermediate Coat: Poly-I-Gard 246

·       Topcoat: Polyglaze AL-50

Optional accelerators include PC-50 for basecoats and Polyglaze Hardener for intermediate and topcoats.

Applications:

This system is ideal for concrete and plywood substrates requiring waterproofing and resistance to spalling, freeze/thaw cycles, and chemical exposure. It is specifically used in exposed deck areas subjected to movement and varying environmental stressors.

Application Details:

·       Phase 1: Crack and joint treatment using PC-260 and reinforcement tape.

·       Phase 2: Primer application:

o   Polyprime 2180SC: 1 gal/300 sqft (300 sqft/gal)

o   Polyprime EBF-LV (for porous/rough concrete): 1 gal/200 sqft (200 sqft/gal)

·       Phase 3: Basecoat PC-220 applied at 2 gal/100 sqft (50 sqft/gal), yielding 22 ± 2 dry mils.

·       Phase 4: Intermediate coat Poly-I-Gard 246 at 1 gal/100 sqft, yielding 12 ± 2 dry mils; broadcast sand at 15–20 lbs/100 sqft for slip resistance.

·       Phase 5 (optional for heavy traffic): Additional coat of Poly-I-Gard 246 with 20 mesh sand at 10–15 lbs/100 sqft.

·       Phase 6: Topcoat Polyglaze AL-50 at 1 gal/100 sqft, yielding 12 ± 2 dry mils.

Special Notes:

·       System Thickness: Total dry film thickness is 46–58 mils (1168–1473 microns), exclusive of aggregate.

·       Coverage Rates: Specified coverage rates are for smooth, clean substrates at 75°F (24°C).

·       Cure Times:

o   Basecoat with PC-50 accelerator: 3–5 hours

o   Intermediate and topcoat with hardener: 2–4 hours

o   Recoat window: 12 hours standard, reduced to 24 hours with accelerators

·       Temperature Requirements: Minimum 5°F (3°C) above dew point. Storage temperature 60–95°F (15–35°C).

·       Pot Life: Not explicitly listed; application should follow immediate mixing and environmental conditions must be controlled.

·       UV Resistance: The final coat Polyglaze AL-50 is aliphatic and thus UV stable.

·       Limitations: Not suitable for on-grade slabs, structural concrete <3000 psi, slabs with buried membranes or hydrostatic pressure. Asphalt must be pre-treated with PC-IM 129.
