Description

Polycoat-Aquaseal™ 5000 WC/GC is a seamless and joint free waterproofing system created from a single component, water curable liquid applied, coal tar free, urethane/polyurea roofing and waterproofing membrane system for vertical and horizontal surfaces. The coating may be applied in the field from 30 to 250 mils (0.76-6.35 mm) in one application (when water catalyzed) while supplying simultaneous curing throughout the coating.

Material Use

Polycoat-Aquaseal 5000 WC/GC is a single-component, water-curable, coal tar-free urethane/polyurea liquid membrane. It is cold-applied and designed for waterproofing and roofing applications, formulated for both vertical and horizontal surfaces. It is available in three variants: horizontal (WC/GC-H), vertical (WC/GC-V), and spray-grade (WC/GC-SG).

This product is used for seamless, joint-free waterproofing and roofing. It is especially suited for complex substrate geometries and can be used to correct negative slope, fill ponding areas, and create a positive slope for drainage. It is intended for use in below-grade waterproofing, plaza decks, green roofs, tunnels, planters, between slabs, and more.

System Components

The system includes the base and top layers of Polycoat-Aquaseal 5000 WC/GC, optionally reinforced with approved fabric. The complete system may also include primers such as Polyprime 21 (recommended for concrete) and optionally Polyprime U or Polyprime 172 (used if re-coating beyond 48 hours). Reinforcing fabric is embedded between layers of membrane, and a protective board or geotextile composite is required after installation.

Applications

 Typical applications include:

·       Green roof waterproofing

·       IRMA roofing

·       Waterproofing under malls, plazas, promenade decks

·       Bridges, tunnels, foundation walls, basements

·       Planters, terrazzo/tile floors

·       Modified cap sheets, between slabs

Application Details

·       Mixing: Must be mixed with a mechanical mixer using a Jiffy-style paddle at low speed. Optional water catalyst (1 quart water per 5 gallons material) can be added to accelerate cure.

·       Application Methods: Can be applied by brush, roller, squeegee, trowel, or spray.

·       Thickness:

o   Without water catalyst: max 30 mils per coat

o   With water catalyst: up to 120 mils in one coat

o   Full reinforced system:

§  100 mils: 45 mils base + 45 mils top

§  150 mils: 70 mils base + 70 mils top

·       Coverage: Thickness determines coverage. Typically, ~60 mils in one water-catalyzed coat is recommended.

·       Primer: Optional for plywood and CMU; Polyprime 21 recommended for concrete.

·       Curing Time:

o   2–4 hours between coats (with water catalyst)

o   16–24 hours before protection board or backfilling

o   Must re-prime with Polyprime U or 172 if over 48 hours between coats.

Special Notes

·       Not UV stable – must be protected from UV exposure.

·       Pot life after water mix is 20–30 minutes, depending on water ratio and temperature.

·       Service temperature range: -25°F to 150°F (-31.7°C to 65°C).

·       VOC Content: <50 g/L for WC/GC-H and V; <100 g/L for spray-grade.

·       Substrates to avoid: on-grade slabs, unvented metal pans, lightweight concrete, swimming pools, magnesite.

·       May be used over asphalt only if first coated with Aquaseal 5000 WC/GC.

·       Surface must be dry, clean, and free of contaminants before application.

·       Not to be diluted under any circumstances.
