Description
Polycoat Staingard™ 9072SC is an aliphatic polyaspartic, environmentally friendly, highly chemical resistant surface topcoat for waterproofing membrane systems.
Material Use
Polycoat Staingard 9072SC – Aliphatic, Polyaspartic, Polyurea Waterproofing Membrane Topcoat.
Polycoat Staingard 9072SC is designed as a high-performance, chemical-resistant, UV-resistant, aliphatic polyaspartic polyurea topcoat. It is primarily used as the final surface layer over waterproofing membrane systems and offers superior weatherability, abrasion resistance, and gloss retention.
System Components
This product functions as a topcoat in waterproofing systems and is compatible with aromatic polyurea, polyurethane, and epoxy base membranes. When re-coating beyond 12 hours of prior clear coat application, a primer such as Polyprime U is required before applying a pigmented topcoat. Clear coats must be applied only after the pigmented coat, never directly over primer to avoid discoloration.
Applications
Ideal for use in highly demanding industrial and commercial environments, including:
· Concrete surfaces
· Off-shore oil platforms
· Chemical and fertilizer plants
· Cold storage and food processing areas
· Warehouses, steel and plastic substrates
· Pipeline barges, plywood, and pulp/paper mills
Application Details
· Mixing Ratio: 1:1 by volume (Side-A : Side-B)
· Application Tools: Airless sprayer (preferred), phenolic resin core roller, or cup gun under low pressure
· Minimum Film Thickness: 5 mils
· Recommended Film Thickness: 14 ± 2 mils (dry film) per coat
· Coverage Rate: 1 gallon covers approximately 100 ft²
· Pot Life: 45–60 minutes at 75°F (24°C), 50% R.H.
· Curing Time:
o Tack-free: 2–4 hours
o Light pedestrian traffic: after 6 hours
o Heavy pedestrian traffic: 24–48 hours
· Environmental Conditions: Apply between 60–95°F (15–35°C); avoid high humidity and excessive heat, which can accelerate curing undesirably. Do not apply on surfaces with moisture or in high-moisture environments.
Special Notes
· UV Stability: UV-resistant with excellent gloss retention – suitable for exterior use.
· Chemical Resistance: Resistant to a wide range of chemicals including acids, solvents, oils, fuels, and Skydrol (per ASTM D1308 test data).
· Surface Preparation:
o Metal: SSPC-SP6/NACE 3 with 2 mil (50 micron) profile.
o Concrete: SSPC-SP13/NACE 6 or ICRI CSP 3-5 – Primer required.
· Storage: Shelf life of 1 year in factory-sealed containers stored indoors.
· Limitations: Not suitable for split slabs, buried membranes, magnesite, sandwich slabs with insulation, or non-structural lightweight concrete. Avoid use on unvented metal pans or asphalt surfaces unless approved by Polycoat technical department.
