Description
The Polydeck® 100SC Pedestrian Traffic Deck System is a liquid-applied, moisture-cured, polyurethane waterproofing system is for light service. The system utilizes an epoxy primer, one coat of a low-odor aromatic polyurethane basecoat, one intermediate coat of a low-odor aromatic polyurethane with aggregate, and one aliphatic polyurethane topcoat.
Material Use
Polydeck 100SC – A liquid-applied, moisture-cured polyurethane pedestrian traffic deck system, designed for light service waterproofing applications.
This system provides a durable, elastomeric waterproof membrane for pedestrian decks, balconies, patios, sun decks, and walkways. It offers protection against spalling, freeze/thaw damage, and exposure to commonly encountered chemicals.
System Components
· Primer Options:
o Polyprime 2180SC for metal and standard concrete surfaces
o Polyprime EBF-LV for rough or porous concrete and outgassing concerns
· Basecoat: PC-220SC
· Intermediate Coat: Second application of PC-220SC with broadcast aggregate
· Topcoat Options:
o Polyglaze 100SC
o Polyglaze AL-50SC
For crack/joint reinforcement or patching: PC-260 with optional reinforcement tape and sand/rubber granule additions.
Applications
Used on structurally sound concrete and plywood substrates (APA-rated exterior grade or better). The substrate must be free from defects and properly sloped. Not suitable for: on-grade slabs, split slabs with buried membranes, slabs over unvented metal pan, or concrete under 3000 psi. Asphalt surfaces require pre-treatment with Polycoat PC-IM 129.
Application Details
· Surface Preparation: All substrates must be clean, dry, and free of contaminants. New concrete requires 28 days of curing.
· Phase 1: Treat joints/cracks with PC-260 and reinforcement tape.
· Phase 2: Apply primer (optional for new plywood).
o Polyprime 2180SC: 1 gal/300 sqft (4 dry mils)
o Polyprime EBF-LV: 1 gal/200 sqft for porous surfaces
· Phase 3:
o PC-220SC basecoat: 1.5 gal/100 sqft → ~21 ± 2 dry mils
· Phase 4:
o PC-220SC intermediate coat: 0.75 gal/100 sqft
o Broadcast 20 lbs/100 sqft of 20 mesh sand into wet coat → ~11 ± 2 dry mils
· Phase 5:
o Polyglaze 100SC or AL-50SC topcoat: 1 gal/100 sqft → ~12 ± 2 dry mils
Total System Thickness: Approximately 44 ± 5 dry mils (1118 ± 125 microns), excluding aggregate.
Special Notes
· Pot Life & Cure Times:
o Optional PC-50 additive can reduce basecoat cure time to 3–5 hours at 75°F.
o Polyglaze Hardener shortens topcoat cure to 2–4 hours.
· Recoating Window:
o 12 hours after each coat; surface must be solvent wiped and re-primed if window is exceeded.
· Environmental Conditions:
o Application must occur at least 5°F above dew point.
o Recommended temperature: 75°F (24°C)
· UV Exposure:
o Polyglaze 100SC and AL-50SC topcoats are aliphatic polyurethanes, offering UV resistance/stability.
· Coverage Rates:
o Vary by coat and substrate, e.g., 66 sqft/gal for basecoat, 100 sqft/gal for topcoat
· Equipment Cleaning: Use urethane-grade, environmentally safe solvents
· Shelf Life: 1 year in original sealed containers stored at 60–95°F (15–35°C)
