Description

This is a liquid-applied, moisture- cured, polyurethane waterproofing decking system for everyday use. The system utilizes an epoxy primer, two coats of an aromatic polyurethane basecoat, one intermediate coat of an aromatic polyurethane topcoat with aggregate, and one aliphatic polyurethane topcoat.

Material Use

The Polydeck 180/180SC is a liquid-applied, moisture-cured, polyurethane waterproofing system designed for pedestrian traffic areas. It provides elastomeric, seamless, recoatable, and weather-resistant protection. Ideal for use in locations requiring long-term durability and waterproofing under dynamic conditions.

System Components

This is a multi-layer system consisting of:

·       Primer: Polyprime 2180SC or Polyprime EBF-LV (used depending on substrate condition; EBF-LV is preferable for rough or porous concrete or when outgassing is a concern)

·       Joint/Crack Treatment: PC-260 with Straight Jacket Tape

·       Base Coat: Two coats of PC-220/220SC aromatic polyurethane

·       Intermediate Coat: Polyglaze AR/AR-OF with broadcasted aggregate

·       Top Coat (Final Finish): Polyglaze 100/100C/100SC or Polyglaze AL-50/AL-50SC (UV-stable aliphatic polyurethanes)

Applications

Commonly applied on balconies, patios, sun decks, walkways, and rooftops. Suitable for plywood and concrete substrates with proper surface preparation. Not for use on-grade slabs, magnesite, sandwich slabs with buried membranes, or concrete with strength below 3000 psi.

Application Details

·       Primer Coverage:

o   Polyprime 2180SC: ~300 ft²/gal at 4 dry mils

o   Polyprime EBF-LV: ~200 ft²/gal at 4 dry mils

·       Base Coat: Two coats of PC-220/220SC at 2 gal/100 ft² total, yielding 44 ± 2 dry mils

·       Intermediate Coat: Polyglaze AR/AR-OF at 1 gal/100 ft² (12 ± 2 dry mils), with 20 lbs/100 ft² of 20 mesh sand broadcast

·       Top Coat: 1 gal/100 ft² of Polyglaze 100 or AL-50 variants (12 ± 2 dry mils)

·       Finished System Thickness: 68 ± 5 dry mils (1727 ± 125 microns) exclusive of aggregate

Special Notes

·       Environmental Limits:

o   Apply only when temperatures are ≥5°F (3°C) above dew point

o   Substrates must be sound and sloped for drainage

o   Do not install over substrates under hydrostatic pressure or with structural deficiencies

·       Cure & Recoat Times:

o   Standard base coat cure: several hours; recoat within 24 hours

o   Optional Fast Cure:

§  PC-50 additive shortens base coat cure to 3–5 hours

§  Polyglaze Hardener shortens topcoat cure to 2–4 hours

·       Pot Life and Shelf Life: Materials have a shelf life of 1 year in original sealed containers stored between 60–95°F (15–35°C)

·       UV Exposure: Final topcoats (Polyglaze AL-50/100 series) are UV stable

·       Limitations: Not for use on unvented metal pans, asphalt overlays unless primed with PC-IM 129, or substrates with PSI < 3000. Not recommended for slab-on-grade decks with rising water tables.
