Description
The Polydeck® 355 Pedestrian Traffic Deck System has a class B Fire Rating on 5/8” (1.59 cm) or 19/32” (1.51 cm) plywood and is an elastomeric, liquid applied, moisture cured, polyurethane waterproofing system. The system utilizes an epoxy or polyurethane primer, two coats of an aromatic polyurethane basecoat and two coats of an aliphatic polyurethane topcoat.
Material Use
Polydeck 355 is a liquid-applied, elastomeric, moisture-cured polyurethane waterproofing and traffic deck coating system designed for pedestrian surfaces. It provides chemical resistance, waterproofing, flexibility, and seamless recoatable protection, while achieving Class A and B fire ratings depending on substrate.
System Components
This system includes the following key components:
· Primer: Polyprime 2180SC or Polyprime 21. For porous or outgassing-prone concrete, Polyprime EBF-LV is recommended.
· Basecoat: PC-440, PC-440SC, or PC-440SF.
· Intermediate Coat (optional): Second layer of PC-440/440SC/440SF.
· Topcoat: Polyglaze 400, Polyglaze 400C, or Polyglaze 400SC.
Applications
Ideal for balconies, patios, sun decks, walkways, stairs, and spaces over occupied areas where a high-performance waterproof and traffic-bearing system is needed.
Application Details
· Substrate Preparation: Concrete must have 3000 psi minimum compressive strength and be cured for 28 days. APA-rated exterior grade plywood is required. Do not install over slabs on grade or poorly vented substrates.
· Primer Application: 1 gallon covers approximately 300 sqft (4 dry mils). Polyprime EBF-LV is applied at 1 gallon/200 sqft for porous surfaces.
· Basecoat: Applied in two coats:
o First coat: 2 gallons/100 sqft (50 sqft/gallon), 22–32 ±2 dry mils.
o Second coat: 1 gallon/100 sqft, 11–16 ±2 dry mils, broadcast with 20 mesh sand (100 lbs/100 sqft).
· Topcoat: Two coats of Polyglaze 400 series:
o Each coat at 3/4 gallon/100 sqft (125 sqft/gallon), yielding 8–10 ±2 dry mils.
· Finished System Thickness: 50 to 65 ±5 dry mils, exclusive of aggregate.
· Pot Life: Mixed patching paste (PC-440 and PC-50) must be used within 20 minutes.
· Curing Time: Final topcoat requires 72 hours at 75°F (24°C) and 50% RH before heavy traffic is allowed.
· Coverage Summary:
o Primer: 300 sqft/gallon
o Basecoat: 50 sqft/gallon
o Topcoat: 125 sqft/gallon
Special Notes
· The system is UV resistant when topcoated with Polyglaze 400 series.
· Must be applied ≥5°F above dew point.
· Do not apply over substrates with rising moisture or hydrostatic pressure.
· Coverage may vary based on substrate texture and conditions; mockups are recommended.
· Primer recoat window is 12 hours; if exceeded, surface must be solvent wiped and re-primed.
· Product contains isocyanates, solvents, and epoxy resin; professional handling is required.
