Description

The Polydeck® 555 Pedestrian Traffic Deck System is a very fast setting, rapid curing, high solids, polyurethane/polyurea, liquid applied, chemically cured, rapid return-to-service waterproofing coating system. The system utilizes a twocomponent epoxy primer, a two-component, non-gassing, thermal stable, elastomeric basecoat, and a two-component, solvent free, hybrid aliphatic polyurea topcoat.

Material Use:

POLYDECK 555 is a Pedestrian Traffic Deck Coating System Pedestrian Traffic Deck Coating System A fast-setting, liquid-applied, polyurethane/polyurea waterproofing system designed for pedestrian decks such as balconies, patios, sun decks, and walkways. This system offers high durability, rapid return-to-service, and long-term protection against chemical exposure, freeze/thaw damage, and thermal cycling.

System Components:

·       Primer: Polyprime 21 or Polyprime EBF-LV (epoxy-based)

·       Basecoat: PC-260 (non-gassing, thermal stable elastomeric polyurethane)

·       Topcoat: Poly-I-Gard 295 (hybrid aliphatic polyurea)

Applications:

Suitable for concrete and plywood substrates (properly prepared). Designed to withstand light to heavy pedestrian traffic. This system protects against spalling, abrasion, and environmental exposure, and maintains flexibility in various temperature conditions.

Application Details:

·       Substrate Prep: Clean, dry, and properly finished concrete (minimum 3000 psi strength) or APA-rated exterior-grade plywood.

·       Phase 1: Joint treatment with PC-260 and Straight Jacket Tape.

·       Phase 2: Priming

o   Polyprime 21: 1 gal/300 ft² (4 dry mils)

o   Polyprime EBF-LV: for porous concrete, 1 gal/200 ft²

·       Phase 3: PC-260 basecoat at 1.5 gal/100 ft² (66 ft²/gal), achieving 22 dry mils.

·       Phase 4 & 5:

o   Light Traffic: Poly-I-Gard 295 at 1.5 gal/100 ft² (66 ft²/gal), min. 12 dry mils + sand broadcast.

o   Heavy Traffic: Poly-I-Gard 295 at 0.75 gal/100 ft² (120 ft²/gal), min. 24 dry mils + sand broadcast.

·       Total Thickness: 36–48 dry mils (914–1143 microns), exclusive of aggregate.

Special Notes:

·       Pot Life: PC-260 has a working time of 20 minutes after mixing.

·       Cure Times: PC-260 requires 6–8 hours before recoating; topcoat should only be applied once the basecoat is fully cured.

·       Full System Cure: Final adhesion tests may be performed 7 days post-application.

·       Temperature Limits: Apply only between 60°F and 95°F (15–35°C), and at least 5°F above dew point.

·       UV Stability: Topcoat Poly-I-Gard 295 is aliphatic polyurea, providing UV resistance.

·       Thickness Limits:

o   Primer: ≥4 dry mils

o   Basecoat: ≥22 dry mils

o   Topcoat: ≥12 (light) or ≥24 (heavy) dry mils

·       Coverage Rates:

o   Polyprime 21: 300 ft²/gal

o   Polyprime EBF-LV: 200 ft²/gal

o   PC-260: 66 ft²/gal

o   Poly-I-Gard 295: 66 ft²/gal (light), 120 ft²/gal (heavy)

·       Restrictions: Do not use on-grade slabs, unvented metal pans, or concrete under 3000 psi. Asphalt requires a priming coat of PC-IM 129.
