Description

The Polydeck® MR (Mechanical Room) system is a liquid-applied, high solids, moisture-cured waterproofing system. The system utilizes an epoxy primer, a high tensile polyurethane base coat and an aromatic, moisture-cured polyurethane topcoat to complete the system. Polydeck® MR is a user-friendly application specifically designed to be tough and durable.

Material Use:

POLYDECK MR is a high-solids, moisture-cured, liquid-applied waterproofing system designed specifically for mechanical rooms. It provides a seamless, elastomeric, durable barrier that withstands structural movement, protects against spalling, freeze/thaw damage, and chemical exposure. The system is ideal for environments requiring a resilient and recoatable waterproofing solution.

System Components:

The system comprises a three-coat application:

·       Primer: Polyprime 2180SC or Polyprime EBF-LV (for porous/rough concrete or outgassing risk).

·       Base Coat: PC-220SC (or substitute Poly-I-Gard 295).

·       Top Coat: Poly-I-Gard 246SC (or substitute Poly-I-Gard 295).

Optional: PC-50 mixed with PC-220SC for detailing joints, cracks, and flashings. Straight Jacket Tape is used to reinforce treated areas.

Applications:

Primarily used in mechanical rooms, this system is suitable for properly prepared concrete or plywood substrates. Not suitable for on-grade slabs, split or sandwich slabs, unvented metal pans, or structurally compromised surfaces (<3000 psi). For asphalt surfaces, pre-coating with Polycoat PC-IM 129 is required.

Application Details:

·       Primer Coverage:

o   Polyprime 2180SC: 1 gal / 300 sqft (3 dry mils).

o   Polyprime EBF-LV: 1 gal / 200 sqft (rate varies by substrate porosity).

·       Base Coat (PC-220SC or Poly-I-Gard 295):

o   2 gal / 100 sqft → 28 ± 2 dry mils (PC-220SC) or 30 ± 2 dry mils (Poly-I-Gard 295).

·       Top Coat (Poly-I-Gard 246SC or 295):

o   1 gal / 100 sqft → 14 ± 2 dry mils, broadcast with 10 lbs / 100 sqft of 20 mesh dry, rounded sand.

·       Final System Thickness:

o   Without sand: 48 ± 5 dry mils.

o   With sand: 56 ± 5 dry mils.

Special Notes:

·       Pot Life: Mix only as much as can be used within 20 minutes (especially relevant for PC-220SC/PC-50 mixture).

·       Curing Time: Allow 6–8 hours after joint treatment and overnight curing after topcoat before traffic exposure.

·       Temperature & Humidity Limits:

o   Substrates must be ≥3000 psi and ≥28 days cured for concrete.

o   Application temperature must be 5°F (3°C) above dew point, within 60–95°F (15–35°C).

o   Avoid application under high humidity or risk of condensation.

·       Primer Recoat Window: Must be coated within 12 hours of curing; otherwise, re-prime after solvent wipe.

·       UV Stability: Not specifically noted as UV stable or resistant; system is primarily intended for interior mechanical rooms.

·       Coverage Efficiency:

o   Primer: up to 300 sqft/gal.

o   Base Coat: 50 sqft/gal.

o   Top Coat: 100 sqft/gal.

Limitations:

Do not use on unvented metal pan decks, sandwich assemblies, or low-integrity concrete. Not suitable for rising water tables or hydrostatic pressure environments. Substrate must be sloped for drainage. Follow surface preparation guidelines strictly for optimal performance.
