Description
Polyeuro® 8245 is designed for acid and base environments and is a fast set, rapid curing, 100% solids, flexible, aromatic, two component, spray polyurethane polyurea that can be applied to suitably prepared concrete and metal surfaces.
Material Use:
Polyeuro 8245 is a two-component, 100% solids, aromatic polyurea protective coating developed by Polycoat Products. It is a flexible, rapid-curing spray-applied system designed for harsh environments involving acids and bases, and is especially suitable for metal and concrete substrates.
Polyeuro 8245 is engineered for protective applications in demanding industrial environments. It offers excellent resistance to acids, bases, thermal stress, and moisture. Its seamless nature and fast curing time make it ideal for facilities such as food processing plants, fertilizer and pulp mills, power plants, water treatment sites, refineries, and secondary containment systems.
System Components:
This is a plural-component spray-applied system comprising Side-A and Side-B in a 1:1 volume mix ratio. It can be installed with or without reinforcement at transitions. The system does not require a primer on most metals but may be used with repair primers like Polycoat PC-260 or Polyprime 21 with sand for surface imperfections in concrete. For aluminum, stainless steel, or galvanized surfaces, specific primers are recommended; contact Polycoat for guidance.
Applications:
Ideal for use on concrete, metal (including structural steel), and even wood, fiberglass, and textiles under specific surface preparation conditions. Typical sectors include cold-storage, marine, mining, wastewater, and food industry environments.
Application Details:
· Application Method: Plural-component, heated high-pressure spray (e.g., Graco Reactor), at ≥2000 psi and material temps ≥150°F (66°C).
· Surface Temp Requirement: Must be ≥5°F (3°C) above dew point.
· Pot Life: 4–6 seconds @ 160°F (65.5°C).
· Tack-Free Time: 60–80 seconds.
· Recoat Time: 0–2 hours.
· Curing Time: Full cure is rapid due to fast-set chemistry, but surface performance depends on ambient conditions and thickness.
· Service Temperatures: -40°F to 250°F dry; 40°F to 120°F wet.
· Viscosity: Side-A: 200 ± 20 cps; Side-B: 500 ± 20 cps.
· Coverage: 1 mil thickness = 1 gal per 1600 ft². Apply to desired thickness using:
Formula: (1600 ft²/gal ÷ desired mils) × Solids Content = Coverage rate.
· Recommended Thickness: Application in single or multiple passes; no sagging observed at standard thicknesses.
· Surface Prep Standards: Follows SSPC-SP13/NACE 6, ICRI CSP 3–5 for concrete, and SSPC-SP10/NACE 2 for steel.
Special Notes:
· UV Stability: Not UV stable—will yellow and flatten under UV exposure.
· Storage Conditions: 1-year shelf life; store at 60–95°F (15–35°C), avoid freezing.
· Limitations: Containers must remain sealed until use and fitted with a desiccant during spraying.
· Safety Note: Contains isocyanates and curatives; for professional use only with appropriate PPE.
