Description
Polyeuro® 5851 is a 100% solids, rapid curing, odorless, flexible, two component, aromatic-spray polyurea developed for specialty application such as a geotextile lining membrane.
Material Use
Polyeuro 5851 – Two-Component Aromatic Polyurea Protective Coating
Polyeuro 5851 is a 100% solids, rapid curing, odorless, flexible polyurea spray coating primarily designed as a geotextile lining membrane. It is also applicable on concrete and steel substrates and is suitable for use in demanding environments like wastewater containments, structural steel protection, waterproofing membranes, and industrial facility coatings.
System Components
· Base Material: Two components (Side-A and Side-B), mixed 1:1 by volume.
· Primers:
o For concrete: PC-260 or Polyprime 21 (mixed with sand) is recommended for surface repair before priming and coating.
o For steel: Apply primer immediately after SSPC-SP10/NACE 2 preparation to prevent flash rust.
o Substrates such as aluminum, galvanized surfaces, copper, stainless steel, and FRP require cleaning and specialized primer applications, with adhesion testing recommended.
· Application Equipment: Requires plural-component, heated, high-pressure spray equipment (e.g., Graco Reactor), applied at ≥2000 psi and >150°F (65°C).
Applications
· Geotextile linings
· Foam coatings
· Liners and containments (e.g., oil production, wastewater)
· Structural steel protection
· Industrial flooring and facility waterproofing
Application Details
· Surface Prep: Clean, dry, and profiled surface as per ASTM and ICRI guidelines (e.g., CSP 3–5 for concrete).
· Pot Life: 15–25 seconds at 150–160°F (66.5–71°C), 50% RH
· Tack-Free Time: 120–150 seconds (dependent on thickness and temperature)
· Recoat Window: Within 0–12 hours
· Installation Temperature Range: 80–90°F (27–32°C) material preconditioning; surface must be 5°F (3°C) above dew point
· Service Temperature Range: -40°F to 300°F (-40°C to 121°C), with brief resistance up to 350°F (177°C)
· Viscosity: Side-A: 1200 ± 150 cps; Side-B: 400 ± 100 cps at 80°F (27°C)
Special Notes
· UV Stability: Aromatic polyurea is typically not UV stable; discoloration (color change, gloss reduction, chalking) may occur upon exposure.
· Coverage: One gallon covers approximately 1600 sq ft per dry mil. Formula: (1600 sq ft / mil thickness) × solids content = application rate per gallon.
· Thickness: No specific max/min limits provided, but uniform, multidirectional spraying is required to ensure desired thickness.
· Storage: 1-year shelf life in original sealed containers at 60–95°F (15–35°C). Avoid freezing; store on pallets and rotate regularly.
· Safety: Contains isocyanates and curatives; classified as Dangerous Goods. Handle with professional training and use appropriate PPE.
