Material Use:
POLYFLEECE is a non-woven polyester reinforcement fabric designed for use in roofing and foundation waterproofing systems. It is specifically intended to be embedded within liquid-applied waterproofing membranes to enhance mechanical strength, durability, and crack-bridging capabilities. It is used in conjunction with SOPREMA’s ALSAN FLASHING, ALSAN FLASHING WINTER, and COLPHENE LM BARR products.
System Components:
POLYFLEECE is not a standalone waterproofing product but functions as a reinforcement layer within a liquid-applied membrane system. It is used in combination with the following SOPREMA products:
- ALSAN FLASHING (base and top coat for flashing applications)
- ALSAN FLASHING WINTER (cold-weather variant of ALSAN FLASHING)
- COLPHENE LM BARR (liquid-applied air/vapor barrier and waterproofing membrane)
These materials form a complete system where POLYFLEECE is embedded between coats of the liquid membrane to provide reinforcement and improve performance.

POLYFLEECE is used in:
- Roofing systems, particularly in detailing and flashing areas
- Foundation waterproofing systems
- Areas requiring enhanced reinforcement within liquid-applied membranes
Application Details:
POLYFLEECE is installed by embedding it into a wet coat of ALSAN FLASHING, ALSAN FLASHING WINTER, or COLPHENE LM BARR. Once the fleece is fully saturated and embedded, a second coat of the liquid membrane is applied over it to encapsulate the reinforcement. The fleece must be laid flat without wrinkles or folds to ensure proper adhesion and performance. Refer to the specific TDS of the liquid membrane being used for detailed installation procedures, including surface preparation, environmental conditions, and curing times.
Special Notes:
- POLYFLEECE is available in various widths (100 mm to 990 mm) and lengths (15.2 m to 30.5 m), with coverage ranging from 1.5 m² to 15 m² depending on the roll size.
- The material has a nominal thickness of 0.9 mm (37 mils) and a weight of 55 g/m² (0.18 oz/ft²).
- It offers high tensile strength (32.4 kN/m MD and 17.5 kN/m CD) and elongation properties (10% MD and 75% CD), making it suitable for dynamic joints and areas prone to movement.
- POLYFLEECE must be stored in a dry location to prevent moisture absorption and physical deformation.
- It is critical to follow the installation guidelines of the liquid membrane product being used, as POLYFLEECE is a reinforcement accessory and not a waterproofing membrane on its own.
This material is an essential component in SOPREMA’s liquid-applied waterproofing systems and should always be used in accordance with the manufacturer’s recommendations to ensure optimal performance.
