Description
Polyglaze® Hardener is a single component, low viscosity, accelerating agent. This accelerator enhances the moisture curing characteristics of all grades of Polyglaze® coatings and all grades of the Poly-I-Gard™ 246 coatings.
Size: 1 quart
Material Use:
Polyglaze Hardener is a single-component, low-viscosity accelerator designed to enhance the moisture-curing characteristics of all grades of Polyglaze coatings and Poly-I-Gard 246 coatings. It is primarily used to speed up cure times, enabling the application of two coats in one day, and can also be employed to create caulking compounds for plywood joints, concrete expansion joints, cracks, and flashings. It is also suitable for vertical surface applications or areas requiring fast return to service.
System Components:
This hardener is used in conjunction with Polyglaze topcoats and Poly-I-Gard 246 surface protection systems. It is not compatible with Poly-I-Gard 295 or 295OF. A complete system would include:
· Base Coating: Poly-I-Gard 246
· Top Coating: Polyglaze (with Polyglaze Hardener added as an accelerator)
Applications:
Used in deck coatings, pedestrian and vehicular surfaces, and expansion joint sealant systems, particularly where fast turnaround is needed or vertical applications are involved.
Application Details:
Polyglaze Hardener must be mechanically mixed into the topcoat (Polyglaze or Poly-I-Gard 246) using the recommended volume ratio. The pot life of the mixed material is approximately 1–3 hours at 75°F (24°C) and 50% relative humidity. It is critical that the mixture is homogeneous and not mixed in an up-and-down motion. Available mixing ratios:
· 0.5 pint per 1 gallon (0.24 L per 3.78 L)
· 1 quart per 5 gallons (0.95 L per 18.9 L)
Special Notes:
· Not UV stable or UV rated on its own but used with UV-resistant topcoats.
· Temperature Limits: Store between 60–95°F (15–35°C).
· Use Limitations: Should only be used in well-ventilated areas due to strong odor. Not recommended for indoor use. Once opened, containers must be used within 1–3 hours due to moisture sensitivity.
· Packaging: 1-quart (0.95 L) can.
· Cleanup: Use an environmentally safe solvent immediately after application.
· Curing Conditions: Pot life of 1–3 hours implies rapid setting in moderate ambient conditions.
· Dangerous Goods Classification: UN 1760, CORROSIVE LIQUID N.O.S. (Contains Amine), Class 8, PG III.
