Formulated for interior/exterior applications for light to moderate industrial use, Pro Industrial™ DTM Acrylic is designed for new construction or maintenance use and can be used directly over prepared substrates.
Material Use:
Pro Industrial DTM Acrylic Gloss is a high-performance, water-based, direct-to-metal (DTM) acrylic coating designed for both interior and exterior applications. It is suitable for light to moderate industrial use, offering excellent corrosion and chemical resistance. This product is ideal for new construction or maintenance projects and can be applied directly to properly prepared substrates without the need for a separate topcoat.
System Components:
Pro Industrial DTM Acrylic Gloss can be used as a standalone system or as part of a multi-coat system with appropriate primers and fillers depending on the substrate. The system may include:
- Primers: Pro Industrial Pro-Cryl Primer, Pro Industrial DTM Primer/Finish, Kem Bond HS Metal Primer, Zinc Clad Primer, Loxon Concrete & Masonry Primer, Loxon Conditioner, Bond-Plex Waterbased Acrylic, DTM Bonding Primer, Exterior Wood Primer, Premium Wall & Wood Primer, ProMar 200 Zero VOC Primer.
- Block Fillers: Pro Industrial Heavy Duty Block Filler, Loxon Acrylic Block Surfacer.
- Topcoat: Pro Industrial DTM Acrylic Gloss (1-2 coats depending on substrate and color).
Applications:
This coating is suitable for a wide range of substrates including:
- Steel (with or without primer)
- Aluminum
- Galvanized metal
- Concrete and masonry
- Concrete block (CMU)
- Drywall
- Pre-finished siding (baked-on finishes)
- Interior and exterior wood
Application Details:
- Application Methods: Airless spray, conventional spray, brush (small areas only), or roller.
- Recommended Wet Film Thickness: 6.0–10.0 mils
- Recommended Dry Film Thickness: 2.4–4.0 mils
- Coverage: 160–267 sq. ft. per gallon per coat (based on wet mils); theoretical coverage is 641 sq. ft. per gallon at 1 mil dry.
- Pot Life: Not applicable (single-component water-based product).
- Dry Time @ 77°F / 50% RH:
- To touch: 20 minutes
- Tack free: 45 minutes
- Recoat: 1 hour
- Full Cure Time: Not explicitly stated; allow at least one week for adhesion testing.
- Temperature Range for Application: Minimum 50°F (10°C), maximum 110°F (43°C); surface must be at least 5°F above dew point.
- Relative Humidity Limit: Maximum 85%

Special Notes:
- For best corrosion resistance and adhesion, use appropriate primers based on substrate.
- Application on unprimed steel may result in pinpoint rusting; priming is recommended.
- Deep and ultradeep base colors require a primer for optimal performance.
- Do not apply on wet surfaces or immediately after rain or during foggy conditions.
- Surface preparation is critical; follow SSPC and ICRI standards for cleaning and profiling.
- Clean tools and equipment with soap and water immediately after use.
- VOC content is less than 50 g/L, making it compliant with LEED v4/v4.1 and other environmental standards.
- Shelf life is 36 months when stored indoors between 40°F and 100°F in unopened containers.
This product is ideal for commercial and light industrial environments where a durable, fast-drying, and corrosion-resistant finish is required. It can be used as part of a complete system tailored to the substrate and environmental conditions.
