Formulated for interior/exterior applications for light to moderate industrial use, Pro Industrial™ DTM Acrylic is designed for new construction or maintenance use and can be used directly over prepared substrates.
Material Use:
Pro Industrial DTM Acrylic Semi-Gloss is a high-performance, water-based, corrosion-resistant acrylic coating designed for both interior and exterior applications. It is suitable for light to moderate industrial use and can be applied directly to properly prepared substrates. This product is ideal for new construction or maintenance projects and offers excellent chemical resistance, flash rust resistance, and fast drying properties. It is also approved for use in USDA-inspected facilities.
System Components:
Pro Industrial DTM Acrylic can be used as a standalone system or as part of a multi-coat system with appropriate primers and fillers depending on the substrate. The system may include:
- Primers: Pro Industrial Pro-Cryl Primer, Pro Industrial DTM Primer/Finish, Kem Bond HS Metal Primer, Zinc Clad Primer, Loxon Concrete & Masonry Primer, Loxon Conditioner, Bond-Plex Waterbased Acrylic, DTM Bonding Primer, Exterior Wood Primer, Premium Wall & Wood Primer, ProMar 200 Zero VOC Primer.
- Block Fillers: Pro Industrial Heavy Duty Block Filler, Loxon Acrylic Block Surfacer.
- Topcoat: 1–2 coats of Pro Industrial DTM Acrylic Semi-Gloss.
Applications:
This coating is suitable for a wide range of substrates including:
- Steel (with or without primer)
- Aluminum
- Galvanized metal
- Concrete and masonry
- Concrete block (CMU)
- Drywall
- Pre-finished siding (baked-on finishes)
- Interior and exterior wood
Application Details:
- Application Methods: Airless spray, conventional spray, brush (small areas only), or roller.
- Recommended Film Thickness: 6.0–10.0 wet mils per coat, resulting in 2.4–4.0 dry mils.
- Coverage: 160–267 sq. ft. per gallon depending on film thickness. Theoretical coverage is 641 sq. ft. per gallon at 1 mil dry.
- Pot Life: Not applicable (single-component water-based product).
- Dry Time @ 77°F / 50% RH:
- To touch: 20 minutes
- Tack free: 45 minutes
- Recoat: 1 hour
- Curing Time: Full cure typically achieved after 7 days.
- Temperature Range for Application: Minimum 50°F (10°C), maximum 110°F (43°C). Surface must be at least 5°F above dew point.
- Humidity Limit: Maximum 85% relative humidity during application.
- UV Resistance: UV stable after cure.
- Clean-Up: Soap and warm water for tools and spills. Flush spray equipment with compliant solvent to prevent rust.
Special Notes:
- For steel substrates, priming is recommended to prevent pinpoint rusting, especially with deep or ultra-deep base colors.
- For galvanized surfaces, allow to weather for six months or clean and test adhesion before coating.
- For concrete and masonry, ensure surfaces are fully cured (minimum 30 days) and free of contaminants. Use appropriate primers or conditioners.
- For CMU, use a block filler before topcoating.
- For wood, ensure surfaces are dry and properly primed. Avoid painting immediately after rain or during foggy conditions.
- This product complies with major environmental regulations including LEED v4/v4.1, CARB, SCAQMD, and is EPD-NSF® certified.
- Not recommended for use on wet surfaces or in high humidity without proper surface preparation.
- Provides performance comparable to federal specification AA50570 and SSPC-Paint 24.
This material is best used as part of a system tailored to the substrate, with appropriate primers and surface preparation to ensure optimal adhesion and durability.
