Applied to existing waterborne coatings and select solvent-based coatings, Pro Industrial™ Sher-Clear™ provides color and gloss protection over newly applied industrial water-borne coatings and select solvent-based coatings.
Material Use:
Pro Industrial™ Sher-Clear™ 1K is a one-component, waterborne acrylic clear coat designed to provide UV-resistant, fast-drying, and durable protection over a variety of industrial coatings. It is primarily used as a protective topcoat to enhance gloss and color retention, and to extend the weathering performance of both waterborne acrylics and select solvent-based coatings. This product is suitable for exterior applications and is ideal for use on storage tanks, piping, structural steel, signage, and amusement park structures.

This clear coat is typically used as a final protective layer in a multi-coat system. It is compatible with the following base coats:

Applications:
This product is recommended for exterior use where long-term UV resistance and gloss retention are required. It is suitable for:
- Exterior storage tanks
- Piping and structural steel
- Corporate logos and signage
- Amusement parks
- USDA-inspected facilities (non-food contact surfaces)
Application Details:
- Application Methods: Brush, roll, or spray (airless or conventional)
- Recommended Wet Film Thickness: 3.0 – 5.5 mils
- Recommended Dry Film Thickness: 1.1 – 2.0 mils per coat
- Coverage: 296 – 539 sq. ft. per gallon (theoretical coverage at 1 mil dry = 593 sq. ft./gal)
- Do not exceed 2.0 mils dry film thickness per coat to avoid cloudiness or a milky appearance
- Do not apply over white or very light-colored alkyds
- Do not tint this product
- Stir gently before use; do not shake
Environmental and Application Conditions:
- Temperature Range: 50°F (10°C) to 120°F (49°C)
- Relative Humidity: Maximum 85%
- Surface temperature must be at least 5°F above the dew point
- Not recommended for application in high humidity or below minimum temperature
Pot Life, Curing, and Recoat Times:
- Pot Life: Not applicable (1K product)
- Dry to Touch:
- 50°F: 1 hour
- 77°F: 45 minutes
- 120°F: 5 minutes
- Dry to Handle:
- 50°F: 2 hours
- 77°F: 1 hour
- 120°F: 15 minutes
- Recoat Time:
- 50°F: 4 hours
- 77°F: 2 hours
- 120°F: 15 minutes
- Full Cure Time:
- 50°F: 21 days
- 77°F: 14 days
- 120°F: 7 days
Special Notes:
- This product is UV-resistant and suitable for exterior exposure
- Do not apply over hydrocarbon solvent-cleaned surfaces; use only emulsifying industrial detergents followed by water
- Always test adhesion on previously painted surfaces by applying a 2–3 sq. ft. patch and allowing it to cure for one week
- Application of a clear coat may alter the appearance of the base color; test in an inconspicuous area before full application
- Clean tools and equipment immediately after use with soap and warm water
- Shelf Life: 12 months unopened
- VOC: 70 g/L (0.58 lbs/gal), compliant with most major environmental regulations including OTC, CARB, and SCAQMD
This product is best used as a final clear coat in a system with compatible Pro Industrial base coats, particularly for exterior applications requiring UV resistance and gloss retention. It is not suitable for use over light-colored alkyds or in high-humidity environments during application.
