Description
Intended for interior/exterior use in industrial environments, Pro Industrial™ Urethane Alkyd Enamel is easy to brush, roll or spray, and provides performance comparable to silicone alkyds.
Material Use:
Pro Industrial Urethane Alkyd Enamel is a high-gloss, urethane-modified alkyd coating designed for both interior and exterior use in industrial and commercial environments. It is formulated to provide excellent durability, abrasion resistance, and resistance to chipping and flaking. This product is suitable for use on a variety of properly prepared substrates including steel, concrete, wood, plaster, aluminum, galvanized metal, and previously painted surfaces. It is ideal for applications requiring a tough, glossy finish with enhanced weathering performance compared to conventional alkyds.
System Components:
This coating system typically includes a substrate-specific primer followed by one or two coats of Pro Industrial Urethane Alkyd Enamel. The system components vary depending on the substrate:
- Steel (Alkyd Primer): 1 coat Kem Bond HS Primer or Kem Kromik Universal Metal Primer
- Steel (Acrylic Primer): 1 coat Pro Industrial Pro-Cryl Primer
- Aluminum & Galvanized Metal: 1 coat DTM Wash Primer
- Concrete Block: 1 coat Pro Industrial Heavy Duty Block Filler
- Drywall: 1 coat ProMar 200 Zero VOC Latex Primer
- Interior Plaster & Poured Concrete: 1 coat Loxon Concrete and Masonry Primer
- Exterior Wood: 1 coat Exterior Oil-Based Wood Primer
- Interior Wood: 1 coat Premium Wall & Wood Primer
- Wood Floors (Foot Traffic): 1–2 coats of Pro Industrial Urethane Alkyd Enamel (self-priming)
Applications:
This product is recommended for use in a wide range of industrial and commercial applications including:
- New construction and repaints
- Structural steel, steel doors, and supports
- Machinery and equipment
- Storage tanks, conveyors, and pipe marking
- Railings, frames, bar joists, and fire escapes
- USDA-inspected facilities (interior use)

- Conventional: Binks 95 gun, 66 fluid nozzle, 63PB air nozzle, 50 psi atomization pressure
Special Notes:
- This product is not UV stable and may yellow over time, although it resists yellowing better than conventional alkyds.
- Not compliant with SCAQMD, CARB, or LEED VOC requirements.
- VOC content is 333 g/L (2.78 lbs/gal).
- Shelf life is 36 months for bases and 12 months for tinted colors.
- Not recommended for use with interior-only colorants on exterior applications.
- Surface preparation is critical for performance; all surfaces must be clean, dry, and properly primed.
- For best results, stripe coat welds, crevices, and sharp angles.
- Do not exceed recommended film thickness to avoid performance issues.
- Clean tools and equipment with compliant solvents immediately after use.
- Rags and waste soaked with this product may spontaneously combust; dispose of properly in a sealed, water-filled metal container.
This product is best used as part of a complete system with compatible primers and surface preparation tailored to the substrate. It is ideal for industrial maintenance and protective coating applications where a durable, high-gloss finish is required.
