Description

Multi-Purpose, Low Modulus, Epoxy Adhesive and Binder

Material Use

ProGuard E-TUFF 7097 – Multi-purpose, low modulus, two-component epoxy adhesive and binder, 100% solids, low viscosity, and moisture tolerant.

This material serves as an epoxy adhesive and binder for bonding skid-resistant materials to hardened concrete or asphalt surfaces. It also functions as a crack filler and sealer, epoxy mortar binder, and aggregate broadcast binder in high friction and decorative overlays.

System Components

ProGuard E-TUFF 7097 is used in multiple ChemCo Systems applications:

·      7097-HFST – High Friction Surface Treatment Overlay

·      7097-ENS – Header, Joint Nosing and Patching Mortar

·      7097-Bridge Deck Overlays – For elevated highways and partner structures

·      7097-DECO – Can be dyed and combined with colored glass/mineral aggregates for bike/bus lanes and walkways

Compatible with washed, kiln-dried, bagged aggregates. No primer is specified, but surface preparation is crucial.

Applications

·      Bonding aggregates or pavement marking materials to concrete or asphalt

·      Horizontal crack sealing (above grade)

·      Surface sealing to prevent intrusion of water and contaminants

·      Epoxy mortar for patching and repair

·      Use in both interior and exterior environments

Application Details

·      Mix Ratio: 1:1 by volume (Side A to Side B)

·      Manual Mixing: Mix each side for 30 seconds, then blend both for 3 minutes at low speed

·      Mechanical Application: Requires 3–4 gal/100 sq.ft. (multi-coat) or 25–32 sq.ft./gal (single coat)

·      Aggregate Broadcast: 1–1.5 lb/sq.ft. immediately after binder application

·      Coverage (neat):

o   Course #1: 40 sq.ft./gal

o   Course #2: 20 sq.ft./gal

·      Coverage (mortar): 2 gal epoxy + 10 gal aggregate = ~1.2 cu.ft.

·      Recommended Installation Temperature: 50°F (10°C) minimum

·      Mixing/Dispensing Equipment: Truck-mounted or automated plural component systems can be used

Special Notes

·      Pot Life / Gel Time: > 30 minutes at 77°F

·      Tack-Free Time: 3–5 hours

·      Cure Time (Binder + Aggregate):

o   60°F (16°C): 6 hours

o   75°F (24°C): 3 hours

o   80°F (27°C): 2.5 hours

·      Full Cure Compressive Strength (Epoxy Mortar): Up to 5,200 psi after 7 days

·      UV Stability: Not explicitly UV stable – outdoor use relies on aggregate shielding

·      Installation Conditions:

o   Substrate temp range: 50°F – 95°F

o   Do not thin with solvent

o   Only use dry, clean, kiln-dried aggregate

·      Storage: Store at 40°F–95°F; shelf life 24 months in unopened containers

·      Color Options: Standard is clear light amber; decorative version can be tinted using colored dyes in Part A and Part B
