Description

PROMAR ALKYD ZONE MARKING PAINT is a fast-drying, medium oil alkyd in two colors, white and yellow, conforming to U.S. Bureau of Public Roads colors.

Material Use:

ProMar® Alkyd Zone Marking Paint is a fast-drying, medium oil alkyd-based traffic marking paint designed for high-visibility striping on cured asphalt, concrete, and brick surfaces. It is primarily used for marking parking lots, curbs, runways, and other paved surfaces in commercial, municipal, and institutional settings. This product is ideal for use by pavement stripers, asphalt seal contractors, and property maintenance professionals.

System Components:

This is a single-component system that does not require a primer or topcoat. It is ready to use and can be applied directly to properly prepared cured surfaces. For reflective markings, glass beads may be dropped onto the wet paint to enhance visibility at night.

Applications:

ProMar® Alkyd Zone Marking Paint is suitable for use in a variety of environments including apartment communities, shopping centers, schools and universities, municipalities, airfields, and highways. It is designed for use on cured asphalt, concrete, and brick surfaces. It is not intended for use as a floor paint or for large pedestrian areas due to potential slipperiness when wet.

- Application Methods: Spray (airless or conventional), brush, or roller.

- Recommended Film Thickness: 15.0 mils wet, 7.5–7.8 mils dry.

- Coverage: Approximately 350 lineal feet of standard 4-inch stripe per gallon, or 107 sq. ft. per gallon.

- Surface Preparation: Surfaces must be clean, dry, and sound. Remove all oil, dust, grease, dirt, and loose materials. New asphalt should be aged before application.

- Dry Time at 77°F (25°C), 50% RH:

- Dry-no-pickup: 20 minutes

- Shelf Life: 12 months unopened.

- Flash Point: 16°F (PMCC) – flammable; handle with care.

- Do not apply on uncured asphalt or wet surfaces.

- Excessive film thickness may cause lifting on new asphalt.

- For new asphalt, apply a test stripe and limit application to 8 mils wet (approx. 200 sq. ft./gal).

- Not intended for large pedestrian areas due to slip hazard when wet.

- Clean tools and spills immediately with compliant solvents such as VM&P Naphtha or aliphatic hydrocarbons.

- Dispose of solvent-soaked materials properly to prevent fire hazards.

This product is best used as a standalone marking paint for cured pavement surfaces and does not require a multi-layer system. However, it can be enhanced with glass beads for reflective applications.
