Material Use

PSF 3113-3-R-NATURAL – Rigid Polyurethane Foam System

 PSF 3113-3-R-NATURAL is a two-component, water-blown spray rigid polyurethane foam designed specifically for void filling applications. Its formulation ensures a consistent and uniform closed-cell structure, making it suitable for structural floatation and other void fill needs where rigidity and low water absorption are critical.

System Components

 This system consists of two parts mixed in a 1:1 volume ratio:

·       Side-A (ISO): A liquid isocyanate component with low viscosity (150–200 cps at 25°C) and specific gravity of 1.24.

·       Side-B (Polyol Blend): A viscous liquid with a viscosity of 700–1000 cps and a specific gravity of 1.18.

Applications

 Used extensively in marine and construction industries, PSF 3113-3-R-NATURAL is ideal for structural flotation, general void filling in concrete or other structural cavities, and other rigid foam applications.

Application Details

·       Mix Ratio: 1:1 by volume (Side-A to Side-B)

·       Density: 3 lbs/ft³ (ASTM-1638)

·       Compressive Strength:

o   Parallel to rise: 55 psi

o   Perpendicular to rise: 37 psi

·       Tensile Strength: 85 psi (ASTM 1623)

·       Shear Strength: 50 psi (ASTM C-273)

·       Closed Cell Content: 85%

Special Notes

·       Storage:

o   Side-A should be stored between 77°F–95°F (25°C–35°C).

o   Avoid freezing; reheat using convection ovens if needed, but not exceeding 140°F (60°C).

o   Side-B can be stored at ambient temperature.

o   Use a nitrogen blanket on partial drums to prevent moisture contamination.

·       Environmental and Safety Limitations:

o   Avoid exposure to temperatures over 400°F (204°C) as this may cause container rupture.

o   Do not breathe vapors or allow skin/eye contact; vapors of heated MDI can be hazardous.

·       UV Stability: Not specified – not designed for exposed UV environments.

·       Application Thickness & Coverage: Not applicable as this is an expanding foam product – expands to fill voids and measured by volume rather than mils or coverage per gallon.

This system is not designed for use as a topcoat or for exposed applications where UV resistance is needed. It is used independently and not typically layered with other coating systems.
