Description

SENTINEL PVC INDUCTION PLATES are made of 22-gauge Galvalume® AZ-50 steel, used to fasten support or insulation panels to the roof structure and provide an induction-welding surface for SENTINEL PVC membranes.

Material Use:

SENTINEL PVC Induction Plates are specialized fastening components designed for use in roofing systems. They are used to mechanically secure insulation or support panels to the roof deck and serve as the induction-welding surface for SENTINEL PVC roofing membranes. These plates are an integral part of the induction-welded PVC membrane roofing system, ensuring a secure and watertight bond between the membrane and the substrate.

System Components:

The SENTINEL PVC Induction Plates are used in conjunction with SENTINEL PVC membranes and compatible fasteners such as #14 or #15 screws. The complete system includes:

- SENTINEL PVC Membrane (top layer)

- SENTINEL PVC Induction Plates (welding interface)

- Compatible fasteners (#14 or #15 screws)

- Insulation panels (minimum 2 inches thick)

Applications:

These induction plates are used in commercial and industrial flat roofing systems where SENTINEL PVC membranes are installed using induction welding technology. They are suitable for mechanically fastened roofing assemblies and are particularly effective in high wind uplift zones due to their secure attachment method.

Application Details:

- Plates must be installed white side up and fastened according to the wind uplift test report’s fastening pattern.

- Care must be taken not to over-tighten or under-tighten the plates, as improper torque can compromise the induction weld and lead to membrane depressions or water ponding.

- All installed plates must be covered with membrane by the end of each working day to prevent UV degradation and contamination.

- Insulation panels used with these plates must be at least 50 mm (2 inches) thick to ensure proper performance.

Special Notes:

- SENTINEL PVC Induction Plates are made from 22-gauge Galvalume® AZ-50 steel, offering corrosion resistance and durability.

- The plates have a diameter of approximately 85.4 mm (3-3/8 inches) and are white on the top side and blue on the back.

- Each box contains 500 units and weighs approximately 17.8 kg (39.3 lbs).

- The plates meet FM 4470 requirements, ensuring compliance with industry standards for wind uplift resistance and fire performance.

- Plates must be stored in a covered container and protected from UV exposure when not in use.

Limitations and Environmental Conditions:

- Plates must not be left exposed to UV rays for extended periods.

- Installation must ensure that plates are fully covered with membrane daily to avoid degradation.

- No specific temperature or humidity limitations are provided in the TDS, but standard roofing practices suggest avoiding installation in extreme weather conditions or when surface moisture is present.

Coverage and Thickness:

- As a mechanical component, coverage is determined by the fastening pattern specified in the wind uplift test report and is not measured in mils or gallons per square foot.

- The number of plates required per square foot will vary depending on wind zone and insulation type.

This product is a critical component of the SENTINEL PVC roofing system and must be used in accordance with SOPREMA’s installation guidelines to ensure optimal performance and warranty compliance.
