Description
Sikafloor®-156 is a 2-part, low viscosity, multipurpose, epoxy resin which can be used as an epoxy primer, levelling mortar and mortar screed. Internal and external use.
Material Use:
Sikafloor®-156 is a two-part, low-viscosity, solvent-free epoxy resin used as a primer, levelling mortar, bonding bridge, and epoxy screed/mortar binder. It is suitable for both internal and external use and is applied on concrete substrates, cement screeds, and epoxy mortars.
System Components:
Sikafloor®-156 is a multifunctional material forming part of epoxy flooring systems. It can be combined with quartz sand and Extender T for levelling mortars or screeds. It acts as a primer for other Sika epoxy and polyurethane (PUR) floorings. Key system configurations include:
- Primer: 1–2 coats depending on substrate porosity.
- Levelling Mortar (Fine & Medium): Sikafloor®-156 mixed with quartz sand (0.1–0.3 mm) and Extender T.
- Bonding Bridge: Neat Sikafloor®-156.
- Screed/Repair Mortar: Sikafloor®-156 mixed with graded quartz sands in specified ratios (e.g., 1 pbw resin + 10 pbw sand).
Applications:
- Primer for absorbent concrete and cementitious substrates.
- Base binder for epoxy floor screeds and mortars.
- Levelling or repair of surfaces with different levels of roughness.
- Base component in systems requiring high bond strength and durability.
Application Details:
- Mix Ratio: Part A : Part B = 75 : 25 by weight.
- Pot Life:
- +10 °C: ~60 min
- +20 °C: ~30 min
- +30 °C: ~15 min
- Curing Time (Non-solvent based overlay):
- +10 °C: 24 hrs min / 4 days max
- +20 °C: 12 hrs min / 2 days max
- +30 °C: 8 hrs min / 24 hrs max
- Foot Traffic:
- +10 °C: ~24 hrs
- +20 °C: ~12 hrs
- +30 °C: ~6 hrs
- Full Cure:
- +10 °C: ~10 days
- +20 °C: ~7 days
- +30 °C: ~5 days
- Installation Conditions:
- Ambient/Substrate Temp: +10 °C to +30 °C
- Relative Humidity: ≤80%
- Dew Point: Substrate must be at least +3 °C above dew point
- Moisture Content: ≤ 4% pbw. Use Sikafloor® EpoCem® TMB if higher.
- Coverage / Thickness:
- Primer: 0.3–0.5 kg/m² per coat
- Levelling Mortar Fine: 1.4 kg/m²/mm
- Levelling Mortar Medium: 1.6 kg/m²/mm
- Epoxy Screed/Repair Mortar: 2.2 kg/m²/mm
- Wet mil thickness not specifically stated but can be inferred from kg/m²/mm values for mortars.
- Tools: Electric stirrers, trowels, squeegees, spiked rollers, power floats, etc.
- Cleaning: Tools must be cleaned with Thinner C immediately after use.
Special Notes:
- Sikafloor®-156 is not UV stable; no mention of UV resistance implies it must be overcoated with a suitable UV-stable topcoat if exposed.
- Do not use on substrates with rising moisture.
- Not recommended for areas with constant water exposure unless sealed.
- External applications should be done in falling temperatures to avoid pinholing.
- Perform pre-trials for mortar mix design based on specific aggregate profiles and layer thickness.
- Use only electric heating in low temperatures; avoid fossil fuel heaters to prevent finish defects.
This material is highly versatile and intended for use as a foundational layer in Sika’s flooring systems. It can be integrated into full coating systems where other Sika topcoats (epoxy or PUR) provide finish, UV resistance, or specialized properties.
