Material Use:

Sikafloor®-1620 is a high-solids, low-viscosity, moisture-tolerant epoxy primer used as a moisture vapor control layer on concrete substrates. It is designed to significantly reduce moisture vapor transmission and is suitable for use beneath Sikafloor®, Sikagard®, and Sikalastic® resin flooring systems.

System Components:

  • Primer: Sikafloor®-1620 (applied as a neat coat with no aggregate broadcast)
  • Moisture Barrier (if needed): Sikafloor®-81 EpoCem®CA (used when substrate moisture exceeds 6%)
  • Topcoat Options: Any Sikafloor®, Sikagard®, or Sikalastic® resin systems as specified

Applications:

  • Suitable for use in interior environments on high-moisture concrete substrates
  • Used under resin flooring systems to meet ASTM F3010 moisture mitigation standards
  • Approved for use in food processing facilities (CFIA and USDA compliant)

Application Details:

  • Mix Ratio: A:B = 3:1 by volume
  • Coverage: ~106 ft²/US gal at 15 mils wet film thickness
  • Installation Temperature: 10–30 °C (50–86 °F)
  • Humidity Limit: Max 85% RH during application and cure
  • Substrate Moisture Limit: ≤ 6% by weight (Tramex® CM/E meter)
  • If >6% Moisture: Use Sikafloor®-81 EpoCem®CA then coat with Sikafloor®-1620
  • Pot Life: ~38 minutes at 20 °C (68 °F)
  • Cure Time:
    • Foot traffic: 8–36 hours depending on temperature
    • Full cure: 4–10 days
  • Overcoating Window:
    • At 20 °C (68 °F): 8 to 48 hours
    • Surface must be sanded if max recoat time exceeded

Special Notes:

  • Sikafloor®-1620 is not UV stable and will discolor over time if exposed; it must be overcoated.
  • Not suitable for exterior slabs exposed to freeze-thaw cycles or extreme thermal shock.
  • Not a finish coat—only a primer for moisture control.
  • Do not apply to polymer-modified cement mortars or ASR-affected substrates.
  • Avoid air flow disturbances and contamination during cure.
  • Must be mechanically mixed—do not hand mix or thin.
