Description
SOPRA-CELLULOSE is a blow-in insulation of more than 80% recycled paper and cardboard.
UNITS PER SKID: 42
Material Use:
SOPRA-CELLULOSE is a high-performance, loose-fill thermal and acoustic insulation material designed for indoor applications. It is primarily used in attics, walls, ceilings, and floors to reduce heat transfer and sound transmission. Made from recycled paper, glassine, and cardboard, SOPRA-CELLULOSE is an environmentally responsible product with low VOC emissions and excellent fire resistance properties.
System Components:
SOPRA-CELLULOSE is used as part of a complete insulation system that may include the following components:
- SOPRA-CELLULOSE STRIP: Used to secure the retaining membrane to wall studs during wall injection applications.
- Retaining Membrane: Required for dense-pack wall and floor injection systems.
- SOPRA-CELLULOSE RULERS: Installed in attics to indicate insulation thickness.
- Pneumatic Blowing Equipment: Required for proper installation in both attic and wall/floor applications.
- Mandatory Nozzle: For dense-pack injection, preapproved by SOPREMA.
Applications:
SOPRA-CELLULOSE is suitable for:
- Attic Insulation: New construction or as a complement to existing insulation.
- Wall Insulation: Dense-pack injection into wall cavities.
- Floor and Ceiling Insulation: Injection into horizontal cavities for thermal and acoustic performance.
Application Details:
- Attic Application: Blown to a minimum settled density of 25.6 kg/m³ (1.6 lb/ft³). Manual application is possible in restricted spaces. Rulers must be installed to indicate thickness, and a coverage chart must be completed and signed.
- Wall Injection: Requires a retaining membrane and SOPRA-CELLULOSE STRIP. Minimum density is 56 kg/m³ (3.5 lb/ft³) for walls up to 150 mm (6 in) thick, and 64 kg/m³ (4 lb/ft³) for thicker walls.
- Floor/Ceiling Injection: Density must range between 28.8 kg/m³ (1.8 lb/ft³) and 48 kg/m³ (3 lb/ft³).
- Service Temperature: Must not exceed 90 °C (194 °F).
- Clearances: Maintain at least 75 mm (3 in) clearance from heat-emitting devices unless approved for insulation contact.
Special Notes:
- Thermal Resistance: RSI = 0.65 per 25.4 mm (R = 3.7 per inch), tested per CAN/ULC-S703.
- Fire Performance: Flame spread rating < 25, smoke developed classification < 45.
- Moisture Resistance: Moisture vapor sorption is less than 20% by mass gain.
- Fungal Resistance: No fungal growth observed after 28 days at 95% RH and 28 °C.
- Corrosion Resistance: No perforation on aluminum, copper, or steel after 28 days at 50 °C.
- Environmental Content: Made from pre-consumer and post-consumer recycled materials.
- Packaging: Supplied in 11.3 kg (25 lb) bags.
- Storage: Store indoors in original, non-perforated packaging and protect with an opaque tarp on-site.
Coverage and Thickness Guidelines:
- Attic Coverage: Varies by desired R-value. For example, to achieve RSI 3.5 (R-20), a minimum settled thickness of 139 mm (5.5 in) is required, with approximately 29.3 bags per 1000 ft².
- Wall Coverage: For RSI 3.6 (R-21), a 140 mm (5.5 in) wall requires 58 bags per 1000 ft².
- Note: Coverage may vary based on equipment, technique, and structure type (wood vs. metal framing).
SOPRA-CELLULOSE is a versatile, sustainable insulation solution ideal for residential and commercial indoor applications where thermal performance, soundproofing, and environmental responsibility are priorities. Always consult SOPREMA’s technical representatives and local building codes for specific installation requirements.
