Material Use:
SOPRA-FLASH UN47 is an uncured neoprene-based reinforcement membrane designed for use in hot-applied rubberized asphalt waterproofing systems. It is specifically engineered to reinforce critical areas such as transitions, penetrations, and drains in waterproofing assemblies. The material is highly flexible and adaptable to irregular shapes and surfaces, making it ideal for complex detailing in waterproofing applications.
System Components:
SOPRA-FLASH UN47 is used as a reinforcement layer within the COLPHENE H hot-applied rubberized asphalt waterproofing system. The system consists of:
- Base Coat: COLPHENE H applied at a minimum thickness of 2.3 mm (90 mils).
- Reinforcement Layer: SOPRA-FLASH UN47 embedded into the hot COLPHENE H base coat.
- Final Coat: An additional layer of COLPHENE H applied over the SOPRA-FLASH UN47 to complete the waterproofing system.
Applications:
This system is suitable for use in a variety of waterproofing applications, including:

Application Details:
- Installation Method: SOPRA-FLASH UN47 is embedded into the hot-applied COLPHENE H base coat using a flat squeegee (not notched). The membrane must be unrolled immediately into the hot liquid base coat with a 75 mm (3 in) overlap between adjacent sheets.
- Thickness Requirements: The base coat of COLPHENE H must be applied at a minimum thickness of 2.3 mm (90 mils).
- Avoid Defects: Care must be taken to avoid wrinkles, voids, fishmouths, and air bubbles during installation. The membrane should not be stretched during application.
Special Notes:
- Storage: SOPRA-FLASH UN47 must be stored in a cool, dry location and protected from weather exposure.
- Dimensions: Available in various widths including 150 mm (6 in), 225 mm (9 in), 300 mm (12 in), 450 mm (18 in), 600 mm (24 in), and 915 mm (36 in). Some sizes are available only by special order.
- Mechanical Properties: The membrane exhibits high tensile strength (7.0–7.5 MPa), excellent elongation (871–952%), and strong tear resistance (22.7–23.7 kN/m), making it highly durable and flexible.
- Water Resistance: Minimal change in mass after water immersion, indicating excellent water resistance and dimensional stability.
Environmental and Application Limitations:
- Temperature: The product must be applied while the COLPHENE H is in a hot liquid state. Specific temperature ranges for application are not provided in this TDS and should be referenced from the COLPHENE H data sheet.
- UV Resistance: Not specified; typically, uncured neoprene-based membranes are not UV stable and should be protected by overburden or additional waterproofing layers.
- Pot Life / Curing Time: Not applicable to this membrane as it is embedded into a hot-applied system and does not cure independently.
- Thickness Control: The SOPRA-FLASH UN47 itself is 1.2 mm (47 mils) thick and is used as a reinforcement layer, not as a standalone waterproofing membrane.
