Material Use:
SOPRA-FLASH WR2016 is a non-woven spunbonded polyester reinforcement fabric designed for use in waterproofing systems. It is specifically engineered to be embedded within COLPHENE H hot-applied rubberized asphalt membranes, enhancing the mechanical strength and integrity of the waterproofing system. Its high absorption capability allows it to quickly saturate with the membrane, ensuring full encapsulation and optimal performance.
System Components:
SOPRA-FLASH WR2016 is used as part of a multi-layer waterproofing system in conjunction with COLPHENE H. The system includes:
- Base Coat: COLPHENE H hot-applied rubberized asphalt membrane
- Reinforcement Layer: SOPRA-FLASH WR2016
- Top Coat: Additional layer of COLPHENE H membrane applied over the reinforcement
Applications:
This reinforcement fabric is suitable for use in a variety of waterproofing applications, including:

- Plaza decks
Application Details:
The application process involves first applying a base coat of COLPHENE H membrane to the prepared substrate using a flat squeegee (not notched). While the membrane is still in its hot liquid state, SOPRA-FLASH WR2016 is immediately unrolled into the base coat, ensuring a 75 mm (3 in) overlap between adjacent sheets. Care must be taken to avoid wrinkles, voids, or fishmouths. Light pressure should be applied with a flat squeegee to eliminate air bubbles and ensure full saturation of the fleece from the bottom up. Once the reinforcement is embedded, a top coat of COLPHENE H is applied over it to complete the system.
Special Notes:
- SOPRA-FLASH WR2016 is not a standalone waterproofing product; it must be used in conjunction with COLPHENE H.
- The material must be stored flat in a cool, dry location, protected from weather to prevent deformation or creasing.
- The reinforcement fabric is white in color and comes in rolls measuring 0.91 m x 182.88 m (3 ft x 600 ft).
- The nominal thickness of the fabric is 0.26 mm (10.1 mil), with a tensile strength of 131/98 N (30/22 lbf) and tear strength of 27.8/35 N (6.25/7.88 lbf) in the machine and cross directions, respectively.
- This material does not provide UV resistance on its own and must be fully encapsulated within the COLPHENE H membrane system.
- Refer to the COLPHENE H technical data sheet for environmental limitations such as temperature, humidity, pot life, and curing times, as these will govern the overall system performance.
This material is an essential component in SOPREMA’s hot-applied waterproofing systems and should be used strictly according to the manufacturer's guidelines to ensure long-term durability and performance.
