SOPRA-ISO PLUS SL is a high-performance polyisocyanurate (polyiso) thermal insulation board designed for use in roofing systems. It is primarily used to provide thermal resistance in commercial and industrial flat roofing assemblies. The board features a closed-cell polyisocyanurate foam core laminated between polymer-coated glass fiber facers and is manufactured with shiplap edges on all four sides to enhance thermal continuity and reduce thermal bridging.
System Components:
SOPRA-ISO PLUS SL is typically used as part of a complete SOPREMA roofing system. It can be installed using various methods depending on the project requirements and board size:
- Mechanically Fastened System: Installed with screws and stress plates, suitable for both 1.2 x 1.2 m and 1.2 x 2.4 m boards (note: 1.2 x 2.4 m boards are only permitted over wood decks).
- Adhered with Hot Bitumen: Only the 1.2 x 1.2 m boards may be adhered using hot bitumen, which must be applied at a temperature 28 °C (50 °F) below the Equiviscous Temperature (EVT).
- Adhered with Adhesive: Compatible with DUOTACK adhesives for 1.2 x 1.2 m boards only.
Applications:
SOPRA-ISO PLUS SL is used in commercial and industrial roofing applications where high thermal resistance is required. It is suitable for use over various substrates, including wood and metal decks, and is compatible with specific SOPREMA base sheets and membranes. It is not intended for direct application of waterproofing membranes unless specific base sheets are used.
Application Details:
- Board Sizes: Available in 1.2 x 1.2 m (47.4 x 47.4 in) and 1.2 x 2.4 m (47.4 x 96 in) dimensions.
- Thickness Range: 88.9 mm to 152.4 mm (3.5 in to 6 in); other thicknesses available upon request.
- Thermal Resistance (LTTR): R-values range from R-20.5 (3.5 in) to R-35.7 (6 in), tested at 24 °C (75 °F) per CAN/ULC S770.
- Compressive Strength: Available in 138 kPa (20 psi) and 172 kPa (25 psi) grades.
- Service Temperature Range: -73 °C to 122 °C (-100 °F to 250 °F).
- Metal Deck Flute Spanability: Varies by thickness; for example, 2 5/8 in thickness spans up to 66.7 mm, and 6 in thickness spans up to 111.1 mm.
Special Notes:
- Compatibility with Waterproofing Membranes: SOPRA-ISO PLUS SL should not be used directly under waterproofing membranes except for COLVENT BASE 830 (no primer required) and COLVENT BASE 840 (primer required), or when membranes are mechanically fastened. For all other membranes, a support panel must be installed over the insulation.
- Board Size Limitations: The larger 1.2 x 2.4 m boards are not approved for adhered applications (hot bitumen or adhesive).
- Storage Requirements: Boards must be stored flat, off the ground (minimum 75 mm), and protected from weather. Temporary packaging must be removed to prevent condensation buildup.
- Environmental Certifications: SOPRA-ISO PLUS SL meets GREENGUARD GOLD certification for low chemical emissions.
- Fire Performance: Flame spread rating of 40–60 per ASTM E84. Note that this rating does not reflect actual fire hazard conditions.
