The system may also include additional SOPRANATURE components such as drainage layers, root barriers, and filter fabrics, depending on the specific green roof assembly.

These mats are ideal for extensive green roof systems, which are typically lightweight and low-maintenance. They are suitable for both new construction and retrofit projects on flat or low-slope roofs, as well as plaza decks where a vegetative finish is desired. The sedum species used can be tailored to suit local climate conditions and hardiness zones, making the system adaptable to a wide range of geographic locations.
Application Details:
SOPRANATURE Sedum Mats are installed by unrolling them directly over the SOPRAFLOR growing medium. Immediate watering to saturation is required after installation to ensure proper establishment of the vegetation. The mats should be installed within 48 hours of delivery to prevent plant spoilage. Coverage of vegetation at the time of installation is at least 90%, ensuring a near-complete green surface from day one. Regular maintenance, including watering and weeding, is recommended and should be guided by local climate conditions and SOPREMA’s maintenance guidelines.
Special Notes:
- Types Available: Regular Mats, Ultra Light Mats, and Mini Mats, each with different dimensions and weights to suit various structural load capacities and design requirements.
- Dimensions and Weight: Regular mats measure 1.0 m x 2.0 m (3.3 ft x 6.6 ft) with a saturated weight of 29.3 - 39.2 kg/m² (6 - 8 psf). Ultra Light and Mini Mats are lighter, with saturated weights ranging from 9.8 - 24.4 kg/m² (2 - 5 psf).
- Thickness: All mat types have a total thickness of 20 to 25 mm (0.7 to 1.0 in).
- Storage and Handling: Mats must be unpacked immediately upon delivery and installed within 48 hours to maintain plant health.
- Environmental Considerations: The sedum species used are drought-tolerant and selected for their ability to thrive in rooftop environments with minimal maintenance. The system is designed to be sustainable and contribute to LEED and other green building certifications.
