Description

Themecoat® 10# polyurethane foam systems are designed for molding and void filling application. Themecoat® 10# can be designed to meet a variety of reactivity requirement without sacrificing product quality and can be formulated to a wide range of densities from 4 to 25 lbs/ft3.

Material Use

Themecoat 10 lb – Rigid Polyurethane Foam System

Themecoat 10 lb is a two-component rigid polyurethane foam system formulated for molding and void-filling applications. It is especially suited for creating molded picture frames, furniture parts, structural floats, and other design elements requiring high strength and dimensional stability.

System Components

·       Side-A (ISO): A liquid isocyanate component with a viscosity of 150–200 cps and a specific gravity of 1.23 at 77°F (25°C).

·       Side-B (Polyol Blend): A viscous polyol blend with a viscosity of 700–1100 cps and a specific gravity of 1.04 at 77°F (25°C).

·       Both components are mixed in a 1:1 volume ratio for processing.

Applications

Themecoat 10# is commonly used in applications requiring lightweight structural foam. This includes manufacturing architectural decor (e.g., molded frames), props, buoyant devices, and decorative furniture parts. Its uniform cell structure and moldability make it ideal for both functional and aesthetic design projects.

Application Details

·       Cream Time: 8–10 seconds

·       Rise Time: 36–42 seconds

·       Demold Time: 5–10 minutes

·       Density: 10 lbs/ft³ (ASTM D-1638)

·       Compressive Strength: 400 psi (ASTM D-1621)

·       Tensile Strength: 350 psi (ASTM D-1623)

·       Shear Strength: 220 psi (ASTM C-273)

Special Notes

·       Storage Temperature: Side-A must be stored between 77°F and 95°F (25–35°C); Side-B can be stored at ambient temperature.

·       Freezing and Reheating: Product should not freeze. If freezing occurs, it can be carefully reheated (max 140°F / 60°C) in a well-ventilated oven.

·       Do Not Exceed 400°F (204°C) during any heating process to avoid dangerous pressure buildup.

·       Application Environment: Maintain safety protocols when handling heated materials, especially regarding MDI vapors.

·       Packaging Sizes: Available in 10-gallon, 100-gallon, and 500-gallon kits.
