Description

Themecoat® 756 is a two component, 1:1 mix, 100% solids, fast set, liquid applied, modified polyurea liner system for metal, concrete, fiberglass and wood surfaces.

Material Use

Themecoat 756 – Two-Component Modified Polyurea Protective Coating

Themecoat 756 is designed as a high-performance, fast-set protective liner system suitable for application on metal, concrete, fiberglass, and wood substrates. It is specifically used for architectural shapes, decorative surfaces, encapsulation of fiberglass bodies and polystyrene foams, and tree bark coatings.

System Components

Themecoat 756 is a 100% solids, plural component system comprising two parts: Side-A (isocyanate) and Side-B (resin blend), mixed in a 1:1 ratio. It requires heated, high-pressure spray equipment for application. It may be used with fiberglass cloth (C-Veil Glass) or geotextile fabric to bridge cracks. A primer is recommended to address surface voids and improve adhesion, although a specific primer type is not mentioned in this sheet.

Applications

This material is ideal for use in sculptural and decorative architectural coatings, protective encapsulation of foam models, and enhancement of themed environments. It is especially suited for surfaces requiring impact resistance, abrasion resistance, and chemical protection while maintaining flexibility at low temperatures.

Application Details

·       Mix Ratio: 1A:1B by volume

·       Application Temperature: Both components must be heated to ≥150°F (66°C); preconditioning temperature should be 75–80°F (24–27°C)

·       Pot Life: 3–5 seconds

·       Tack-Free Time: 20–40 seconds

·       Recoat Window: 0–12 hours

·       Equipment: Requires plural component high-pressure spray system (e.g., Graco Hydra Cat or Gusmer GX7-400)

·       Surface Preparation: Concrete must be free of contaminants and prepared with a 1.5–3 mil (37–75 micron) anchor profile

·       Coverage: Theoretical coverage is 1600 ft² per gallon at 1 mil thickness

·       Storage: Minimum 60°F (15°C); avoid freezing; shelf life of 6 months in original containers

Special Notes

·       This is an aromatic polyurea, which is not UV-stable and will yellow or darken under UV exposure. For color stability and gloss retention, it should be topcoated with an aliphatic polyurethane coating.

·       Containers must be equipped with a desiccant device during use.

·       The product is intended for professional use only, with experience or training in Polycoat materials recommended.

·       Service Temperature Range: -20°F to 250°F (-29°C to 121°C)

·       Cure Characteristics are dependent on application equipment and environment; therefore, on-site performance testing is recommended.

·       Due to the rapid pot life, careful equipment calibration and continuous operation are critical for successful application.
