Description
Themecoat® 759 is a two component, 1:1, 100% solids, elastomeric, fast set, liquid applied, modified polyurea liner system for metal, concrete, fiberglass and wood surfaces.
Material Use
Themecoat 759 – Two-Component Modified Polyurea Protective Coating
Themecoat 759 is a high-performance, 100% solids, elastomeric polyurea liner system. It is specifically designed for protecting metal, concrete, fiberglass, and wood surfaces. It is ideal for applications requiring high impact resistance, chemical resistance, and flexibility in low temperatures, making it suitable for demanding industrial and environmental conditions.
System Components
Themecoat 759 is a two-part system mixed in a 1:1 ratio by volume (Side-A and Side-B). It is intended to be used as a monolithic membrane, though it can be overcoated with an aliphatic polyurethane or polyurea coating to improve UV color stability. When repairing substrates like concrete or wood, Polycoat PC-260 or a mix of Polyprime 21 and sand can be used as a base repair agent prior to application.
Applications
· Boat linings and cargo holds
· Containment areas and waterproof decking
· Walkways, horse trailers, and utility vehicle coatings
· Encapsulation of fiberglass bodies and polystyrene foam
· Industrial flooring systems
Application Details
· Pot Life: 2–5 seconds
· Tack-Free Time: 10–30 seconds
· Recoat Time: Within 0–12 hours
· Full Service Cure: Over 24 hours
· Application Temperature: Both components must be preheated to 150–160°F and sprayed at 2000 psi using a plural-component high-pressure sprayer
· Substrate Temperature: Minimum 5°F (3°C) above the dew point, ideally between 75–80°F (24–32°C)
· Recommended Thickness: Greater than 2 mm
· Theoretical Coverage: 1 gallon per 1600 ft² at 1 mil thickness
· Return to Foot Traffic: 1–4 hours
· Primers (when needed):
o Concrete: Polyprime 21 (especially when repairing with PC-260)
o Metal (Steel, Aluminum): Blast-clean then prime and apply Themecoat 759 same day
o Plastic Foams and Wood: Mechanical abrasion and appropriate primers if necessary
o Textiles, Canvas, Fabrics: Usually does not require a primer
Special Notes
· UV Resistance: Not UV stable; will yellow and flatten under UV exposure. Requires aliphatic polyurethane/polyurea topcoat for colorfast finish.
· Storage: Store in factory-sealed containers above 60°F (15°C). Avoid freezing. Shelf life is six months.
· Environmental Limitations: Avoid application in freezing conditions.
· Flexibility & Strength: Passes 3 mm mandrel bend test; tensile strength of 2400 psi with 250% elongation.
· Abrasion & Chemical Resistance: Excellent resistance, <2.8 mg loss in Taber test, and <0.5% water absorption.
· Substrate Specific Notes: Adhesion tests recommended for stainless steel, galvanized metal, cast iron, and other non-typical substrates before full application.
