Description
Material Use
Loxon 40% Silane Water Repellent is a clear, breathable silane-based solution designed to protect both new and existing concrete and masonry surfaces from moisture intrusion and environmental degradation. It provides long-lasting resistance to water, airborne pollutants, salt, acid rain, alkali, freeze-thaw cycles, and spalling. This treatment is specifically effective in reducing chloride ion penetration and protecting structural surfaces against weathering damage.
System Components
This material functions as a standalone treatment and is not part of a multi-coat system. However, it may be used in conjunction with elastomeric sealants or patch materials for preparing joints, cracks, and other surface imperfections prior to application. It is not intended for use as a topcoat over film-forming sealers or coatings.
Applications
Loxon 40% Silane Water Repellent is suitable for most vertical and horizontal concrete and masonry surfaces, including:
- Tilt-up and poured-in-place concrete walls
- Concrete block, split face and fluted block
- Clay and cement brick
- Stucco and mortar
- Stadium supports, bridges, traffic barriers
- Driveways, sidewalks, concrete patios, parking garages
Limitations:
- Not recommended for use on asphalt, marble, limestone, or other calcium carbonate surfaces
- Not suitable for immersion service or below-grade applications
- Should not be applied over previously sealed or painted surfaces unless fully removed
Application Details
- Recommended Application Method: Low-pressure airless or pump-up sprayer using the flood coat method
- Coverage Rates (approx.):
- Smooth Precast Concrete: 125–175 ft²/gal
- Steel Troweled Concrete: 150–200 ft²/gal
- Porous Concrete/Brick: 100–150 ft²/gal
- Decorative Block/Stucco: 50–150 ft²/gal
- Concrete Block: 75–125 ft²/gal
- Split Face/Fluted Block: 25–75 ft²/gal
- Number of Coats: 1 coat recommended; if a second is necessary, it must be applied wet-on-wet to prevent adhesion failure
- Pot Life: Not applicable (single-component product)
- Touch Dry Time: Approx. 3 hours @ 50% RH
- Full Cure Time: 7 days required before evaluating water repellency performance
- Protection from Moisture: Must be protected from rain for 4–5 hours post-application
- Substrate Preparation: Must be clean, dry, and cured (min. 7 days for concrete); etching or sandblasting may be required on smooth surfaces
- Priming: Not required; no reduction necessary
- Stripe Coating: Required on inside/outside corners and edges for full coverage
