Description
Pro Industrial™ Epoxy Ester Dryfall is a single coat material for interior ceilings and overhead surfaces such as steel joists, support steel, and ductwork. Pro Industrial™ Epoxy Ester Dryfall is a premium coating that will fall dry in 10 feet under normal environmental conditions (77°F, 50% relative humidity).
Material Use:
Pro Industrial™ Epoxy Ester Dryfall is a high-performance, single-component epoxy ester coating designed for interior ceilings and overhead surfaces. It is formulated to dry rapidly and fall as a dry powder within 10 feet under standard environmental conditions, making it ideal for minimizing overspray cleanup in overhead applications. This product is intended for use on properly prepared galvanized steel, primed steel, pre-primed roof decks, aluminum, and concrete block. It is suitable for use in commercial, industrial, and institutional buildings such as warehouses, manufacturing facilities, gymnasiums, textile mills, and parking garage ceilings not exposed to direct weathering.
System Components:
This coating system may include the following components depending on the substrate:
- Primer (for steel): Pro Industrial™ Kem Bond HS Primer (2–5 mils DFT)
- Block Filler (for CMU): Pro Industrial™ Heavy Duty Block Filler (10 mils DFT)
- Topcoat: Pro Industrial™ Epoxy Ester Dryfall (2–4 mils DFT per coat; 1–2 coats)
Applications:
This product is specifically designed for interior overhead applications where dryfall characteristics are desired. It is ideal for use on:
- Steel joists and support steel
- Ductwork
- Interior galvanized steel
- Pre-primed roof decks
- Aluminum
- Concrete masonry units (CMU)
- Ceilings in industrial and commercial environments
Application Details:
- Application Method: Airless or conventional spray only. Brush and roller application are not recommended.
- Recommended Wet Film Thickness: 4.0–8.0 mils
- Recommended Dry Film Thickness (DFT): 2.0–4.0 mils per coat
- Total System DFT:
- Steel: 4–13 mils (including primer)
- Aluminum/Galvanized Steel: 4–8 mils
- CMU: 12–18 mils (including block filler)
- Coverage Rate: Approximately 200–300 sq. ft. per gallon at 2 mils DFT
- Pot Life: Not applicable (single-component)
- Dry Time at 77°F, 50% RH, 4 mils wet:
- To touch: 20 minutes
- Tack-free: 35 minutes
- Recoat (self): 12 hours
- Dryfall: 10 feet
- Curing Time: Full cure time not specified; allow at least 12 hours before recoating
- Temperature Range for Application: 50°F (10°C) minimum to 120°F (49°C) maximum; must be at least 5°F above dew point
- Relative Humidity Limit: Maximum 85%
- Dryfall Performance: Optimal at 77°F and 50% RH; performance may be reduced outside these conditions
- UV Resistance: Not UV stable; for interior or exterior overhead use only where not exposed to direct weathering
Special Notes:
- This product is not to be tinted.
- Overspray may adhere to hot surfaces; remove immediately to prevent permanent adhesion.
- Not compliant with all environmental regulations (e.g., SCAQMD, LEED v4 VOC limits); check local compliance requirements.
- For aluminum and galvanized steel, the product is self-priming. However, surface preparation is critical for adhesion.
- For concrete block, a block filler is required prior to application.
- Not recommended for exterior surfaces exposed to direct weathering.
- Clean tools and equipment immediately after use with a compliant solvent.
- Rags and waste soaked with this product may spontaneously combust; dispose of properly in a sealed, water-filled metal container.
This product is intended for professional use only and should be applied by trained personnel familiar with industrial coating systems. Always consult the most recent product data sheet and safety data sheet before use.
