Description
Pro Industrial™ Waterbased Acrolon™ 100 is an advanced technology, less than 100 grams per liter V.O.C., waterbased, acrylic urethane. It provides performance properties comparable to premium quality solvent-based urethanes. This is an abrasion resistant urethane that has excellent weathering properties.
Material Use:
Pro Industrial Acrolon 100 is a high-performance, water-based acrylic urethane coating designed for use in commercial and industrial environments. It delivers a high-gloss finish with excellent abrasion resistance, weathering durability, and chemical resistance. This product is ideal for applications requiring a low-VOC, high-performance topcoat, and is suitable for use in USDA-inspected and Canadian food processing facilities (non-food contact areas).
System Components:
This is a two-component system mixed at a 6:1 ratio by volume (Part A: B65–920 Series, Part B: B65V00620). It can be used as a standalone topcoat or as part of a multi-layer coating system. The system may include primers such as Pro-Cryl® Primer, Kem Bond HS®, Zinc Clad® IV, or DTM Wash Primer, and may also include intermediate coats like Macropoxy® 646-100 or Pro Industrial Water Based Catalyzed Epoxy depending on the substrate and performance requirements.
Applications:
Pro Industrial Acrolon 100 is suitable for a wide range of substrates including steel, aluminum, galvanized metal, concrete, CMU (concrete masonry units), drywall, and pre-finished siding. It is commonly used in commercial buildings, healthcare cleanrooms, food processing facilities (non-contact areas), and other environments requiring a durable, high-gloss, chemical-resistant finish.
Application Details:
- Mixing Ratio: 6:1 by volume (Part A to Part B). Mix thoroughly before use.
- Pot Life: 2.5 hours at 77°F (25°C); shorter at higher temperatures.
- Application Methods: Airless spray (2000 psi, 0.013–0.015" tip), brush (nylon-polyester), or roller (3/8" woven).
- Reduction: Up to 15% with water; 5–15% required for brush/roller.
- Recommended Film Thickness:
- Wet: 4.0–8.0 mils
- Dry: 1.5–3.0 mils
- Coverage: 200–400 sq. ft. per gallon depending on substrate and application method.
- Dry Time at 77°F / 50% RH (5.0 mils wet):
- To touch: 1.5 hours
- To handle: 6 hours
- Recoat: Minimum 8 hours, maximum 3 months (surface abrasion required if exceeded)
- Full Cure: 10 days
- Temperature & Humidity Limits:
- Application temperature: 55°F to 120°F (13°C to 49°C)
- Must be at least 5°F above dew point
- Maximum relative humidity: 85%
- Surface Preparation: Varies by substrate. Steel requires SSPC-SP6 or SP10 blast cleaning. Aluminum and galvanized surfaces require SSPC-SP1 solvent cleaning and appropriate primers. Concrete must be cured for 28 days and cleaned per SSPC-SP13/NACE 6 or ICRI CSP 1–3.

- Abrasion Resistance: 15.8 mg loss (ASTM D4060)
- Adhesion: 1330 psi (ASTM D4541)
- Flexibility: Passes 1/8" mandrel bend (ASTM D522)
- Pencil Hardness: 6H (ASTM D3363)
- Water Vapor Permeance: 10.62 grains/(hr·ft²·in Hg)
Special Notes:
- This product is LEED v4 & v4.1 compliant for VOC and emissions.
- Not EPD-NSF certified or MPI listed.
- Shelf life is 24 months unopened.
- Do not apply below 55°F or above 85% RH.
- Avoid exceeding maximum film thickness to prevent performance issues.
- For best results, stripe coat welds and edges before full application.
- Clean tools and equipment with soap and water immediately after use.
- Do not mix previously catalyzed material with new batches.
- For recoat beyond 3 months, surface must be abraded to ensure adhesion.
This material is ideal for high-performance architectural and industrial applications where a durable, low-VOC, high-gloss finish is required. It can be used as part of a complete system tailored to the substrate and environmental exposure, offering excellent chemical, abrasion, and weather resistance.
